Our U8s finshed off their season with a game in the Abbey Park on Thursday evening. Many thanks to members of our senior & U16 teams, who are also in the photo, and played in the game. They were shown a thing or two by our rising stars! Well done to all.

Hard luck to our U12s who were beaten in their U12 Summer League Division 5 Final by Roscommon Gaels on a scoreline of Boyle 0-12 to Roscommon Gaels 0-15. Thanks to the players and management for their work throughout the year.

Update 21st September

 Senior Club
Our Cooney Motors/Cooney Centra sponsored Junior A team overcame Castlerea St. Kevins in their relegation playoff in Strokestown on Saturday night, winning on a scoreline of 4.07 to 1.10. Despite missing a number of players from the previous week's encounter, the lads played with great determination and were certainly not lacking in creativity, with some excellent passages of play which opened up the Castlerea backline for 4 goals.

Team: Declan McGovern, Johnny Regan, Conor Boylan, Diarmuid Boylan, Adam O'Connor, Adam Simons, Liam Casey, Mark O'Connor, Colin O'Sullivan, Conor Lavin, Connor Deery, Collie Brennan, Niall Brennan, David Kelly, Tiernan Henry with Cathal Horan, Michael Tormey, Cillian Doyle and Sean Mullins.

The stand out player throughout the campaign was Connor Deery who led the forward line with excellent scores in all games - well done Connor. There is also a very welcome addition in Colin O'Sullivan to midfield and it is great to see players like Conor Lavin and Niall Brennan back in the fold and making telling contributions this year. Special mention also to David Kelly who has been playing his best football for years in the full-forward line. Thanks to all the players. Special thanks to Mark O'Connor who managed the team and kept them going throughout the campaign against all the odds, amidst the challenges of a very tough group and the loss of players. Thanks to Michael Hanmore, Conor Tivnan, and Karl Kelly for their input throughout the year on the line and to Michael Bermingham, Kevin Mullen and Steve Tonry for their input in the latter games.

Minor Club
Congratulations to the Lannon Motors U16’s who came joint top of the Division 1 Championship with Roscommon Gaels. Having played 6 games, winning 5 and drawing with Roscommon Gaels, a coin toss was needed to decide who would go straight to the final and who would compete in the semi-final with Eire Óg/Michael Glaveys. Boyle won the toss and now await the semi-final winners. Date and venue are yet to be decided. Well done to both players and coaches on an already brilliant campaign so far. Now we dream of County Division One Champions returning home to Boyle.

Ladies Club
It was a tough day for our Ladies who were beaten in the Intermediate Final by St. Brigids on a scoreline of 2.09 to 0.08 on Saturday morning. Special thanks to the Ladies and management who brought such a buzz to the town and entertained all year with some excellent football. The mood after the game was probably best captured by Ladies Chairman Noel Scally, and we certainly agree with Noel that this team will be back:
On behalf of Boyle Ladies Club we would like to congratulate the team and management on reaching the Intermediate County Final. It has been a great year for the team. Unfortunately, yesterday was not our day but the team is young and will be back in 2021. We would like to thank the management for their time and commitment during the year and congratulations to St Brigids. A special thank you to all the parents and supporters who came to the game and supported the team- it was greatly appreciated by all".

Update 14th September

Senior Club
Our Cooney Motors/Cooney Centra sponsored Junior A team put in a spirited display against Castlerea in their relegation playoff in Strokestown under lights on Saturday night. The game was called off in extra time due to a serious accidental head injury to Dermot Lyons from Castlerea. Thankfully Dermot was discharged from hospital and we wish him a speedy recovery. Thank you to our physio Conor McGowan who assisted the injured player and well done to the referee, officials and Strokestown GAA for managing their excellent management of the situation.

The game itself finished Boyle 2-11 to Castlerea 4-05 with Castlerea scoring the last free of the game to bring it to extra time. The game will be replayed in Strokestown next Saturday evening at 7.30pm. Best of luck to team and management.

Ladies Club
Pride of place this week goes to our U12 girls who had a fantastic win against Northern Harps in the U12 County Final in the Abbey Park on Sunday evening. Commiserations to Northern Harps. The Boyle girls have been very committed all year and made steady and incremental improvement throughout the season, which culminated in an excellent team performance this week. With a panel of 28 players they all contributed significantly throughout the year, both at training and in games. The win on Sunday was a fitting finish for the group as a whole, with each and every player having great potential if they continue to improve, and enjoy the game as much as they have done so this year. Well done to all the girls for a great season. Many thanks to the management team of John Brennan, Adrian Brogan, Steve Tonry, Michael Tormey, Barbaranne Fitzpatrick & Joan Mullen.

Ladies Intermediate Final
The Boyle Intermediate Ladies take on St. Brigids in the County Final on Saturday 19th September at 1pm in Ballyforan. This team have had put in some great performances this year, most recently their overcoming of St. Dominics in the county semi-final on a scoreline of 3.11 to 1.11. The final is expected to be a tight encounter but there is no doubt that the girls will give it their all. Very best of luck to the team and management, and we encourage all to have plenty of Boyle colours flying this week in anticipation for the final.

Update 7th August

 Senior Club
Our McGovern Directional Drilling sponsored Senior team exited the Hodson Bay Hotel Roscommon GAA Senior Football Championship on Sunday at Hyde Park, following their semi final defeat to St. Brigids on a scoreline of 2.15 to 2.09. Unfortunately the lads were unable to get to the pitch of the game for any sustained period of time, and St. Brigids were always in a position to keep them at arms length. Thank you to players and management for their work throughout what was a different and difficult year. Please see local media for match report, team details below:

Team: R. Kearney, Killian Cox, C. Flanagan, Ciaran Beirne, E. McGrath, S. Purcell, T. McKenna (0-1), Roch Hanmore, Enda Smith (1-0), Tadgh Lowe, D. Smith (0-4, 0-3 frees), Kieran Cox, M. O’Donohoe (0-1), C. McKeon (0-2), C. Feely (0-1) with J. Moran for Kieran Cox 38 min, Marc O’Connor for T. Lowe 45 min, C. Goldrick (1-0) for Mark O’Donohoe 49 min and M. Hanmore for Ciaran Beirne 53 min.

Our Cooney Motors/Cooney Centra sponsored Junior A team lost to St. Ronans in their final group game on Saturday evening in the Abbey park on a scoreline of 6.14 to 2.08. The challenge of playing a more experienced and well drilled first team was too much for our lads but they were very much in the game in the 1st half and were unfortunately unable to convert their possession in to scores. St. Ronans proved too strong in the 2nd half but our lads played till the end with an excellent score from Niall Brennan the highlight.
They now play Castlerea in the Junior A relegation playoff on Saturday at 6 in Strokestown.

The Boyle Intermediate Ladies had a great win over St Dominics in the county semifinal in Boyle on Sunday on a scoreline of 3.11 to 1.11. This was a tight encounter and Boyle created some excellent goal chances in the 1st half and were unfortunate not to score. However, they made no mistake in converting the chances in the 2nd half and ran out deserving winners. Well done Ladies and best of luck in the County Final v St. Brigids which will be played on Saturday 19th September, time and venue tbc.

Our U12 girls play Northern Harps in the County Final next Sunday evening at 5pm in the Abbey Park. Best of luck to the girls and management.
