Update 21st September

"Boyle GAA Club would like to thank Ivan Cochirleanu of Troy Takeaway, Shop Street, Boyle for sponsoring the boy's U-16 team a set of training tops."

It was a mixed weekend for the Club with a victory in one final and a loss in the other. Pride of place must go to our U12s who defeated St Michaels in the Keenan Cup semi final in Cootehall on Wednesday, and then went on to record a very impressive win over Strokestown in the Final in the Abbey Park on Saturday. This is Boyle’s third consecutive Keenan Cup title. This is a very special competition for Boyle Club as the cup commemorates a young Boyle player the late Ernan Keenan, son of Ernie and Carmel Keenan. Thanks to the lads and the management for their great work to date. They are not finished yet, however, as they will travel to Johnstown on Saturday next to take on Clan na Gael in the U12 Division 1 Semi Final at 12 noon. Thanks also to the Keenan family and all Club members who helped with the successful staging of the Keenan Cup Final.

The James Lannon Motor Repairs U16s weren't as lucky as they were defeated by a more powerful Kilglass Gaels/ St Barrys combination in Tarmonbarry on Sunday evening in the Division 4 County Final. Congrats to the winners and thanks to the St Barrys Club for the refreshments after the game. Thanks to the Boyle U16 panel and to Paddy Goldrick and his management team for their great work with the lads throughout the year. The Club wishes to acknowledge the generous sponsorship of Troy Takeaway and Restaurant, Boyle, of tops for the U16 panel.

The National Automation Limited minors will play St Faithleachs in the Division 2 Championship play-off in Kilglass on Saturday next at 4pm. Your support in this vital game is requested.

The Cooney Motors/ Cooney’s Centra Juniors will play Oran in the Junior B Championship at 12 noon on Sunday next in the Abbey Park. This team will also have the Division 5 Championship versus Michael Glaveys coming up on Saturday 10th October.

The McGovern Directional Drilling Seniors are scheduled to play their O’Rourke Cup semi final versus Roscommon Gaels on Sunday week 4th October at 12 noon.

The U20 Championship will commence within the coming month.
The U17 and U15 regional Championships will also commence very shortly and Boyle will join forces with our neighbours from St Michaels and St Ronans for this competition.

The Boyle GAA Clubs  (male and female) are delighted to announce the upcoming launch of the Get Active Today Initiative--see separate press release. It will be launched in King House on Friday night 2nd October by Professor Niall Moyna of DCU.
