Pride of place
this week goes to our U13's who won their Féile Division 2 Final against St
Aidans on Sunday in the Abbey Park on a 3-03 to 1-07 scoreline. After a long
season for the lads this was their last game and fitting that it was a final
and a chance to compete in this year 2020 Féile Na nÓg competition in the
summer. Boyle got off to a flyer early in the first half with a goal from Reece
Calpin that settled the Boyle nerves. Both teams matched each other for
strength and skill in this tight game. Boyle went in at half time leading by a
slender one-point margin. Boyle, as they did in the first half, came out of the
blocks very early in the second half and registered two quick goals from Shay
Noone and Cathal McKeon. St Aidans were determined though, and narrowed the
lead. Boyle held out and two late points from Aaron Shannon and Shay Noone, saw
them victorious with a 3-03 1-07 winning score line. The boys, coaches and
parents now look forward to a brilliant trip to the north during the summer as
they take their rightful place in this year’s 2020 Féile Na nÓg which takes
places in Donegal, Derry and Tyrone. Well done to players, coaches and parents
for all the hard work during the season gone by.
Well done to Enda Smith and Evan McGrath who were involved with the
Roscommon senior team in their convincing win over Leitrim in the FBD League on
Sunday. Roscommon now face Galway in the FBD Final next weekend.
Congratulations to Cian McKeon who was involved with DCU in their win
against Garda College in the first round of the Sigerson Cup on Sunday. DCU now
face Queens in the quarter-final next weekend. In the same competition Steve
Tonry was part of the management team of IT Sligo who overcame UL in their
first-round Sigerson clash. IT Sligo will face Letterkenny IT in the quarter-final next weekend.
The Annual
Minor Committee review is scheduled for Monday 20th January at 8.30pm in the
clubhouse. All parents and club members interested in the progression of our
underage club are invited to attend.
A club
registration evening will take place on Thursday 23rd January from 7-9pm in the
Abbey Park clubhouse. This is an opportunity for all to renew membership
for 2020.

jackpot winner. Weekly winners were Gary Wynne, Michael Bourke and Bridie
Ennis. Next week’s draw is in The Well with Louise Kennedy's team in charge.
Finally, the
highlight of the coming week will be at the Roscommon Herald Sports Awards on
Friday night when our great club soldier Mary Clifford will receive the Hall of
Fame Award.
