The Club won more silverware at the weekend when our U13s had a 4-05 to 2 -05 win over St Brigids in the County Final of the Féile competition. This is a great achievement for the boys and their management team of Gerry Cregg, Odran Feely and Evan McGrath. This means that they will be the Co Roscommon football representatives at 2016 Féile which will be hosted by Tipperary and Waterford County Boards. No doubt there will be a lot of on-field and off-field preparations required for this event.

The U 14s, which will include many of the victorious U13 panel, will play their Garda Cup semi final against Castlerea on Sunday week 22nd in O’Rourke Park at 12 noon.

The U20s have got a walkover in the first round of their competition. They are now straight into the semi final where the likely opposition will be Padraig Pearses.

The U21s will play their County A semi final against St Brigids next weekend - Details TBC. The club asks all supporters to get behind the team.

The Club Lotto draw was held recently in Kate Lavins. The following were €20 winners;-Brid and Conor McGowan and Deirdre Lennon. The house prize was won by Alan Emmett. Next Saturday night’s draw will be held in Wynnes and the jackpot will be a record €10,100. Team A will be in charge.

The “Get Active Today” initiative is in week six. There will be the usual programme of dawn and evening walks, keep fit and circuit training sessions.

Tickets for the National Draw have been circulated to Club officers, players, parents and supporters. There are fourteen very attractive prizes and tickets are only €10 each. We urge everyone to support. Sold tickets and remittances are required to be returned to the Treasurer by 30th November.
The social night of the year- the annual Christmas Quiz is going ahead in St Joseph’s Hall on Sunday night 27th December. Please put this date in your diaries.

Update 5th October

There was a large attendance at the Boyle GAA Clubs (Male and Female clubs) “Get Active Today” fitness and wellbeing launch in King House on Friday evening last. The launch was performed by Professor Niall Moyna of DCU who delivered a most interesting and thought-provoking lecture on the importance of exercise and fitness for all age groups. He complimented the Clubs on the initiative and he implored people of all age categories and levels of fitness to participate.

Kathleen Hanmore outlined the 7 week programme of activities to the gathering.

Boyle GAA's "Get Active Today" this week...
1: Monday 5th 7.30pm: Keep Fit Session in St Joseph’s BNS Gym
2: Tuesday 6th 7.30pm: Town Walk/jog from Kelly's Londis.
3: Tues/Thurs 5th/7th: 7am Dawn walks/jogs of 3k and 5k
All walks/jogs will commence at Kelly’s Londis, the Crescent.

There will be a presentation on healthy eating and nutrition in the GAA Clubroom on Thursday at 7.30pm.

There will be Keep Fit Sessions  on Saturday at 10am in the Sports Complex and again in St Joseph’s BNS Gym on Monday week 12th.

Details of the entire programme are available on the Club website and Facebook page. Registration can be made before any of the event this week. We encourage the entire community to become involved and participants from neighbouring parishes and clubs are very welcome.

A weakened McGovern Directional Drilling senior team lost to Roscommon Gaels in the O’Rourke Cup Semi Final in Abbey Park on Saturday. This brings the curtain down on what has been an excellent season-having finished second in the league section of the O’Rourke Cup (Div 1 League) and having reached the quarter final of the Senior Championship and thus guaranteeing senior status for at least the next two years. This is a young panel and it is hoped that they will build on progress made this year. Thanks to the entire panel and to Michael Jordan and his excellent management team.

The Cooney Motors/Cooney’s Centra Juniors will play Michael Glaveys in the Division 5 League Semi Final in Ballinlough on Saturday at 5pm. Support will be appreciated.
The U14s will commence their Garda Cup campaign very shortly. The National Automation Limited U20s/U21s will also shortly be in action.

The Club extends its best wishes to the proposed new County Senior Management team, and especially to its Boyle connections, Club Coaching Officer Stephen Bohan, former player David Casey and Boyle resident Fergal O’Donnell.
