Boyle looked to be heading into half-time with a two-point lead, however Shannon Gaels scored two quick fire goals leaving the margin at four at the interval.

In what an intense encounter, Boyle's strong running was the hallmark for a much-improved second half performance.

Junior League

Our Cooney Motors Juniors flew off to a dream start against Fuerty on Friday evening with Colin O Sullivan and Conor Deery to the fore.

Strong running from Ciaran Cox in the middle set up Boyle for a lead of 1-12 to 0-4.

The Second half was a different story where Fuerty scored a goal straight off the throw-in and added a further goal later on in the half going 4 points ahead with 5 minutes to go. Boyle Dug deep and tagged on 3 points with Daniel Casey fouled 35m from goal. Colly O’Sullivan stepped up and the cool Cork man slotted over the equalizer before the whistle. Very encouraging performances from our younger players in Daniel Casey, David Flanagan Joe Coyle, Gavin O’Connor and Sean Garavan in Goals.

Connacht Championship

Well done to our club men, Cian, Donie and Enda on their win over Sligo in the Connacht Semi-final on Saturday. Roscommon scored 18 points from play with 11 different scorers including all 5 subs getting on the score sheet. It was a strangely quiet atmosphere for a championship match with just over 6,000 in attendance in Markiewicz park. Certainly, different to mid-summer games and will be interesting to see how its tweaked for next year’s schedule. Looking forward to the Final in less than 4 weeks' time in Salthill where we await the winners of Galway and Leitrim.
