Update 30th May

The McGovern Directional Drilling sponsored Seniors play Carrigallen tomorrow Tuesday in the Leo Kenny Cup in the Abbey Park, at 7:30pm.

The Cooney Motors/Centra sponsored Juniors were defeated by Fuerty in the Junior B championship on Friday last. Team: T. Garthy, C. Lavin, M. Goldrick, M. Mullen, L. Casey, M. McGovern, G. Goldrick, T. Halligan, N. McKenna, B. Kerins, C. Conboy, P. Lavin, C. Deery, L. Conboy and K. Kelly. Subs: S. Mullins and M. O'Donohue. Their next outing is June 10th against Shannon Gaels B team in the Junior B Championship. Venue and Time TBC.

The Cooney Motors/Centra sponsored U-14's play in the Division 1 League Final on June 10th. Opposition, venue and time TBC.

The U-12 Division 5 team defeated Kilglass Gaels in the League semi-final on Saturday last. They now play Kilmore in the final, Venue and time TBC. The Division 1 team defeated St. Brigid's in the league semi-final on Sunday in the Abbey Park. They now play either Clann na nGael or Roscommon Gaels in the final. Venue and time TBC.

GENERAL QUERY: Does anyone know where the 2nd blue wheelie bin is? it has not being seen in the park in 3 weeks or more!!

Ladies Football:

Well done to the Intermediate ladies who defeated Shannon Gaels in the 13-a-side league on Sunday last.

The U-12 girls defeated St. Ciarans in the league on Sunday last. They play Roscommon Gaels next, venue and time TBC.

The U-14's are away to St. Brigid's in the league on Wednesday at 7pm.

Update 23rd May

Eddie Brady and Niamh and Shane Caslin were €20 winners in the last Club Lotto draw which was held in Daly’s Bar and Lounge. The house prize was won by Ann Keenan. The jackpot wasn’t won and it will be at a new record of €11,600 for next Saturday night’s draw which will be held in the Moylurg Inn. Team A will be in charge. We encourage those who wish to be in with a chance to win this massive prize to look out for our ticket sales boxes in most business premeises in Boyle.

Our U12S had another successful week in their respective leagues, with the Division 5 team playing an exciting draw with Kilmore in the Abbey Park on Friday evening, and the Division 1 team having a good win over Clan na Gael at the same venue on Sunday.

Our Cooney Motors sponsored U14 Division 4 team lost to Michael Glaveys in a high scoring league game played in Ballinlough on Thursday evening last. They will play St Brigids in their next outing on this Tuesday evening at 8.15pm. This will be the second game of a double header as the Division 1 team will play St Brigids first team at 7pm. The winners of this game are scheduled to play Padraig Pearses in the league semi final on Saturday next.

The Cooney Motors/ Cooney’s Centra Juniors will commence their Junior B Championship campaign versus Fuerty in Tulsk on Friday evening next at 8pm. Support will be appreciated. Their league game versus Clan na Gael which was scheduled for last week has been postponed until 21st June.
The McGovern Directional Drilling seniors are scheduled to play their next O’Rourke Cup game on Saturday week 4th June when they will entertain St Brigids in the Abbey Park.

Well done to Roscommon Senior Footballers and to our representative Sean Purcell on their Championship win over Leitrim.

Update 16th May

Both of our U12 teams will be in action in the Spring League on Saturday next in the Abbey Park. The Division 1 team will play Clan na Gael at 12 noon while the Division 4 team will play Kilmore at 1.30pm. The U12 team lost their last game on Monday evening last in Lisnamult to Roscommon Gaels.

The Cooney Motors sponsored U14s will travel to Ballinlough on Thursday evening next to play Michael Glaveys at 7.30pm in the Division 4 League.

The Cooney Motors/ Cooney’s Centra Juniors will play Clan na Gael in Johnstown on Saturday at 6pm 
in the Division4 League. They will be in Junior B Championship action on the following Friday 27th when they will play Fuerty.

Congratulations to Shane Caslin who won €500 in the Club Rossie draw at the weekend. The Club has maintained its record of producing at least one prizewinner annually. The Club extends its thanks to all who generously responded to the request to support the Club Rossie draw, thus enabling the Club to exceed its allocation of tickets.

Best wishes are extended to the Roscommon panel and management in their Connacht Senior Championship meeting with our neighbours from Leitrim in Carrick on Shannon on Sunday next.
The club extends its sympathy to Brennan Family, The Cresent, on the death of Donald and the Downes Family, Kiltycreigthon, on the death of Kevin.


Ladies Football: The Senior ladies play St. Croan's in the 13-a-side league next Saturday in Enfield at 7:30pm.

Update 9th May

Michael and Monica Gilmartin and Tom McKeon were €20 winners in the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Creighton’s. The house prize was won by Michael Kerins. The jackpot wasn’t won and it will be at another new record of €11,500 for next Saturday night’s draw which will be held in Daly’s Bar and Lounge. Team E will be in charge. Tickets may be purchased in many outlets in Boyle.

The McGovern Directional Drilling Seniors had a convincing win in the first round of the Hodson Bay Hotel Group Senior Football Championship over Castlerea St Kevins in Abbey Park on Sunday. Thanks to all who assisted in the tidy up of the Clubroom and grounds in advance of the game. Thanks also to all who assisted with the successful hosting of the game on Sunday.

The James Lannon Motor Works U16s were defeated by a much stronger St Aidans in the Division 3 League on Sunday evening in Kilbride. Although beaten, the lads and their management team have had a successful season in reaching the final and they have the championship to look forward to.

Thanks is extended to Tony and Declan McGovern of McGovern Directional Drilling for the excellent work done on clearing the northern end of the training pitch at the Abbey Park.

Sympathy is extended to Marian McGovern, Maple Drive on the death of her brother Oliver Martin, Ballyconnell.

There are only a few days left to purchase your Club Rossie ticket as the draw will take place on Saturday night next. Tickets are available from Club officers.

Update 2nd May

Our U12s teams had great wins over Padraig Pearses in both their Div 1 and Div 5 Spring League games in Woodmount on Saturday. Both teams will be in action on the coming weekend. The Div 1 team will play Roscommon Gaels in Lisnamult on Saturday at 12 noon, and the Div 5 team will play Kilglass Gaels in Kilglass on Sunday at 12 noon.

The Cooney Motors sponsored U14 team will play Michael Glaveys in Ballinlough on Thursday at 7.30pm in the Division 4 League.
Sunday will be a big day for our James Lannon Tyres sponsored U16s as they will play St Aidans in the Division 3 League Final in Kilbride at 6pm.
Our Cooney Motors/ Cooney’s Centra sponsored Juniors suffered a 4 point defeat to a more experienced St Ronans team in the Division 4 League in the Abbey Park on Saturday evening last.

Sunday next sees the start of this year’s Senior Club Championship. Our McGovern Directional Drilling team start their campaign with a home fixture against Castlerea St Kevins in the Abbey Park on Sunday at 2pm. Club members are asked to make themselves available to act as stewards from 12.15 pm on Sunday.

The Abbey Park is in need of some TLC after the long cold wet winter. So we are asking everyone associated with the Club to give an hour or so on Sat May 7th to do a tidy up of the grounds and Clubrooms. We will meet at 10 am and as the saying goes 'many hands make light work'
Bring your shovel, strimmer, spade  etc and we will have the Park in 'ship shape'

There are only a few days left to the “Cash for Clobber” campaign. Bags of clothes, handbags, mobile phones etc must be deposited at the Clubroom by Wednesday evening at the latest. It can be done by arrangement with any of the Club officers.
Thanks to all who generously supported the church gate collection for underage football in Boyle. It is greatly appreciated.
