Update 18th December

Boyle were very unlucky in this year's Keenan Cup final losing a very tight affair by a single point after extra time. Boyle fought well through out but could not keep with a good Micheal Glavey’s team. Well done to the management and team. The team was as follows; O. Henry, N. Callan, C. Kelly, M. Dwyer, B. Very important date for your diary Wednesday the 27th of December is the date for the Annual GAA quiz and presentation night.  Pit your wits against the best quiz brains in Boyle and surrounding areas for some very nice prizes. Player of the Year. Club person of the Year and Hall of Fame awards will be presented on the night and the jubilant  O'Gara Cup winners will receive their medals from Boyle man and County Board Chairman, Seamus Sweeney. We look forward in seeing you all in St Joseph’s Hall at 8 pm for a very entertaining event.

Update 27th November

Boyle GAA Club AGM, Sunday the 3rd of December at 4 pm in the clubrooms. The Club extends a very warm invitation to all its members and friends of the Club to attend. 2017 has seen great success for men's football, adult and underage, ladies football  and camogie.  Success on the pitch has been complemented by development work around the grounds, not least the development and extension of our training grounds, the development of a wonderful gym facility,  the completion of a walking track, an entire make over of our Clubrooms, the dedication of our stand to JJ Nerney etc.  New initiatives like the Nursery Programme, Iar Gaeil, Health and Wellness, involvement in Scor etc are testimony to a vibrant club. The pictorial representation of the Club's history in the meeting room is a must see. So come along on Sunday to reflect on a great year and plan for an even better 2018!”

Our Junior team finished off their campaign with a very respectable 14 points in their league campaign.  Well done to the team and management.

LADIES FOOTBALL:
Pride of place goes to  the Ladies Minor team who won the county final on Friday evening, beating Kilbride 2-15 to 2-04. The match was played under lights on one of the coldest evenings of the year, but a super team effort produced some great scores and a high standard of football. Congratulations to the team and management.

At the AGM the following officers were elected: Chairperson: Noel Scally; Secretary: Bernie Mullins; Treasurer: Cathy Garavan; Registrar: Sabrina Kerins: Children's Officer: Mary Scally; PRO: Karen Brogan.

2017 was a very successful year for the club at all age levels, with both the U16s and Minors winning county titles. Thanks to the coaches and all who supported the teams throughout the year.  Thanks to Boyle Today, Realboyle and The Roscommon Herald for promoting our club. To ensure the continued success of the club we really need to get more people involved, both coaching and on the committee. Looking forward to continued success in 2018 and having lots of new people coming on board.


Sympathy of the club to the McGuire family on the passing of Bernard, Majella Dodd on the passing of her brother Anthony and to Pacelli McDermott on the passing of his brother Sean. May they rest in peace.

Update 20th November

PRIDE OF PLACE THIS WEEK goes to the U-13 team who were crowned Feile champions after defeating Roscommon Gaels over the weekend. Well done to all involved and thanks to management team for all their hard work over the past few weeks.

Eugene and Mary Halligan, Aine Gannon and Dominic Slein were €20 winners at the most recent Club Lotto draw in Mattimoe's Bar. The jackpot wasn’t won. It will be at €2,100 for the next draw on Saturday November 25th which will be held in Creighton's Bar. 

Well done to Niamh Brogan, Maeve Brogan and Iarla Regan who performed so well in the instrumental section at Scor on Saturday night. They are now through to the county final in December.  Thanks to Ann Conboy for her advice and guidance.

The curtain came down on the Junior season over the weekend when an under strength team  lost out to Kilmore. Thanks to the players on the panel. The season saw  some good wins but was frustrated by too many cancellations, often at the last minute , which killed the momentum. Much appreciation must go to the management team of Bernard Shannon, Aidan Lavin and Paul Beirne who 'kept the faith' throughout the year. Special thanks also to Alan Cooney , Cooney Motors for his sponsorship of the team.

LADIES FOOTBALL:
Corrib Oil sponsored Division 2 Minor Final V's Kilbride in Tarmonbarry, Friday 24th Nov at 8.30pm. Please support the girls.

Boyle Ladies AGM will take place in the  clubhouse on Sun Nov 26th at 5pm. All coaches, players, parents and everyone interested in the development of ladies football in Boyle is invited to attend. 
It's a great opportunity to discuss new ideas and initiatives for the club.

The National Automation sponsored U-20 team were defeated in their final group game against St. Faithleach's in the Abbey Park over the weekend. As a result they do not qualify for the knockout stages. The club would like to thank Donal Smith, Manager, Jim Mc Grath, Marc O Connor , David Callaghan and Mikey McGrath for their work with the team.

The Cooney Motors/Centra junior team play Kilmore in the Division 5 league this Saturday Nov 18th, in Kilmore at 2pm.

The annual AGM will take place on Sunday December 3rd, in the clubrooms at 4pm.

LADIES FOOTBALL: 

Well done to the Corrib Oil sponsored Minor Ladies who beat Oran in the  Championship semi final. Details of final tbc.
The club's weekly walk continues between 6-7pm each Monday starting outside the complex, with routes to suit everyone.  So why not come along and join in this community well-being initiative, everyone is welcome.

Update 6th November

The National Automation sponsored U-20's were defeated by Fuerty over the weekend. Their last group game is against St. Faithleach's, Sunday 12th in  the Abbey Park at 2pm.

The u-13 Feile team are through to the final after defeating Shannon Gaels. Final details TBC.

Warm appreciation to Jenny Morgan who facilitated a cookery demonstration and practical with members of the u 20 panel. The lads learned many practical and useful skills. Thanks also to Abbey Community College for the use of the excellent kitchen facilities.

Congratulations to good friend of Boyle GAA, Neil Kennedy and his bride Laura on their recent marriage. They are sent the Clubs best wishes 

The Boyle GAA Nursery Programme got off to a great start with over 60 young boys and girls having great fun while playing games and doing activities specifically focused on improving their agility, balance and coordination. The children had a special visit from Boyle GAA Captain Roch Hanmore  who brought the O'Gara Cup with him and gave us plenty of opportunities for photographs much to the children's delight.

We would like to thank our speakers who spoke with parents on the night. County Coaching Officer Padraig Mitchell gave a very informative talk on the proven benefits of exercise and team sports for children in their physical, mental and emotional development. Roch and his sister Catriona told parents how playing GAA with Boyle had been a very important part of their youth and continued to be into their adult lives. The camaraderie and friendships they formed with their teammates since joining as young children at U12 are still there today.

The nursery programme is open to all young children aged 4-6 years of age and will run for 16 weeks each Monday from 6-7pm in Boyle Complex.  There are still some places available, just come along at 6pm on Monday.

The clubs Health and Well being Officer Jackie Valentine is also organising weekly walks between 6-7pm each Monday outside the complex with routes to suit everyone.  So why not come along and join in this community well-being initiative, everyone is welcome

The U-20 team start their campaign this Sunday Oct 29th, when they  host Castlerea, St. Kevin's in the Abbey Park at 12noon. Best of luck to all involved.

A total of €2,110 was collected from the recent bake sale held in Boyle GAA clubhouse for Niamh's Journey There, a huge thank you to all the people who supported us so generously, to all the fantastic bakers and all the people who helped out on the day, wishing Niamh all the best from Boyle GAA.

Last Saturday was a highly memorable day for Boyle GAA, a day that epitomised all that is good about our club and our town. In the morning we remembered our legendary past player John Joe Nerney with the rededication of the stand and the unveiling of a magnificent mural which depicts John Joe at the height of his illustrious playing career. Special thanks to Sian Costello who painted the mural. This was followed by the unveiling of our photographic exhibition in the clubhouse. The photos will serve as a permanent tribute to club heroes from the thirties through to the present day.

UNDERAGE:
The minors lads were defeated by St. Aidans last week. Well done the U-13 Feile team that defeated Clan na nGael last week.

LADIES FOOTBALL:

The McGovern Directional Drilling sponsored seniors will play the final of the O'Gara Cup against St. Faithleach's in the Abbey Park, this Saturday October 14th, at 4pm. 

In conjunction with the Garda and OGara Cup finals which will be played in Abbey Park on Sat the 14th Oct, Boyle GAA Club is hosting a Bake Sale  fundraiser for Niam'h's Journey There.
Niamh Flanagan, a 19 year old local girl has been diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer. Her brother David plays with the Boyle under 14 team.
All monies raised from the sale of teas ,coffees, refreshmentss and the Bake Sale  on the day will go towards helping  to defray the costs associated with Niamh's ongoing treatment.
Please support this very worthy cause and  bag yourself a delicious homemade cake etc.

Congrats to  former  Club stalwarts David Casey and Richie Fitzpatrick on steering Aughnasheelin  to victory in the Leitrim Intermediate Championship Final. 

Boyle GAA club is very proud to honour John Joe Nerney, a man that his contemporary, the legendary Liam Gilmartin was to descirbe as 'pound for pound the best forward to ever play for Roscommon'.The club will remember John Joe who passed to his eternal reward in 2015 on Saturday October 14 at 11am with the unveiling of a specially commissioned mural and the official opening of the John Joe Nerney stand at the Abbey Park.

Nursery Programme for boys and girls aged 4 to 6 recommences next week. 
Registration on Wednesday Oct 11th, 7pm to 8pm in the clubrooms. Registration fee €20 + €2 per evening in the complex. Places are limited so please ensure to register on Wednesday.

U14s lost to a very strong St Brigids teams in the Division 1 quarter final. Thanks to Sinead and Noel for all their training and commitment throughout the year. 

U10 & U8 training has also finished for this season. Thanks to Padraig, Enda & Brian for all their time and work. Thanks also to everyone who helped at the training sessions.

Well done to McGovern Directional Drilling sponsored senior team who qualified for the quarter-final of the senior championship after defeating Padraig Pearses on Saturday evening in Boyle.
They will now play Strokestown in the quarter-final on Sept 16th, in Hyde park at 6pm.

Many thanks to all the Club members who worked so hard on Friday evening and Saturday morning to ensure our pitch,grounds and Clubrooms were in ship shape for the Championship matches on Saturday and Sunday.  Much appreciation also to all the members who officiated in so many  different roles on Saturday evening and  Sunday afternoon to ensure the safety and enjoyment  of everyone who attended the two games

GAA Development Plan for Boyle
A national initiative by GAA Croke Park to assist Clubs with their development is coming to Boyle on 30th September 2017.

A public meeting is being held in The Spool Factory at 8pm on the 30th September to discuss topics such as coaching and games development, club structures and administration, finance and fundraising, facilities and development, and communication, PR and culture.

The meeting will be facilitated by the Roscommon GAA County Development Officers, Thomas Murray and Pat Compton.

The GAA and the Executive Committee of Boyle GAA Club welcomes the people of Boyle to have 'their say about their Club and its future development.

Please come along on the 30th September. It's your club so have your say in its future!

LADIES FOOTBALL:
Intermediate ladies lost their Championship semi final to Western Gaels on a scoreline of 1-11 to 1-16. It was a very competitive game with some great football played by both sides.
Thanks to Vinnie, Tom and Damien for their commitment to the ladies team throughout the year.

The U-12 division 5 team had wins over Western Gaels and St. Brigid's  last week. Their next game is against Clan na nGael Wednesday evening, in Johnstown at 7pm.

The U-12 division 1 team have two games this week, Monday Sept 4th against Western Gaels in frenchpark at 7pm and Saturday Sept 9th against St. Brigid's in the Abbey Park at 12noon.
The U-13 team play Kilbride Saturday Sept 9th, in the Abbey Park at 1:30pm.

LADIES FOOTBALL
Well done to the Green Veterinary sponsored Intermediate ladies on their win over Eire Og in the Championship play off.  The are now through to the semi-final against Western Gaels in Elphin, on Saturday, Sept 9th, at 6.30pm.

U14's lost to St. Dominics in round 3 of the Championship.  Details of quarter-final TBC.

Their next game is against Roscommon Gaels Saturday August 26th, in the Abbey Park at 12noon. The U-14's play Roscommon Gaels this evening in the Abbey Park at 7:30pm.

LADIES FOOTBALL:
Well done to the Minors on their win in the second round of the Championship. They play St.Brigids on Thursday August 24th, at 7pm in the Abbey Park. 
U14s are away to Clann na nGael in the Championship on Sunday 27th at 6pm.

Intermediate Ladies play off against Eire Og is on 2nd Sept venue and time tbc.

Owen Garvin, Maeve McDonell and Conor Tivnan were €20 winners at the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in the Patrick's Well. The jackpot wasn’t won. It will be at €1,600 for the next draw on Saturday Aug 19th which will be held in the Kate Lavin's.
Well done to the McGovern Directional Drilling sponsored senior team who have completed the league stages of the O'Gara Cup unbeaten. As a result they will play Division 1 League football in 2018.

They will be out again next Saturday evening, August 19th, when they play St. Brigid's in the senior championship in Castlerea at 5:30pm.

UNDERAGE:
The U-14's play St. Ciaran's on Thursday August 17th, at 7:30pm in Fuerty. The U-16's play Clan na nGael on Sunday August 20th, at 12noon in Johnstown.

LADIES FOOTBALL:
Well done to the Minors on their win in the first round of the Championship. They play Kilbride on Thurs at 7.30pm in the Abbey Park. 

Congratulations to Shannon Gaels on winning the Sean Daly Memorial Cup final. It was a very competitive match with great football played by both teams. Thanks to Paddy and Monica Daly & family for presenting the cup.Thanks to the teams who took part and to all who were involved in hosting the competition. A special word of thanks to Aileen Daly for her assistance and to Tony Murphy for taking photos at the final.

The Cooney Motors/Centra play Kilglass Gaels in the Division 5 league on Saturday Aug 5th at 7pm in the Abbey Park.

The club is asking who ever borrowed or otherwise the big grey bench from outside the old dressing room to return it please. 

The minors played St. Faithleach's last week in division 3 championship and the game ended in a draw. They now play Kilglass Gaels/St. Barry's Thursday Aug 3rd in Tarmonbarry at 7:30pm.

LADIES FOOTBALL:

Intermediate Ladies lost to Western Gaels by 2 points.  U15 girls play Shannon Gaels in the final of the Sean Daly Cup. Details to be confirmed.

Boyle GAA Club encourage members to support the Club Rossie draw.  Club members will be promoting the draw in the run up to the All Ireland quarter final. While an individual can purchase a ticket, the cost of the ticket can be shared by a group of friends etc. Remember 'the best is yet to come'.

An excellent Goalkeeping Workshop was given by Joe Sweeney on Monday last in the Abbey Park which was very well received by all coaches who attended.  A special word of thanks to Joe and the underage keepers who assisted him namely Rob, Liam, Sean, Rebecca & Ruth.

Chris Ennis, Ross Shannon and Shane McDonnell were €20 winners at the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Moylurg's Bar. The jackpot wasn’t won. It will be at €1,200 for the next draw on Saturday July 22nd which will be held in Dodd's Bar, with Team 12 in charge. 

The McGovern Directional Drilling sponsored seniors defeated St.Faithleach's in the division 2 league on Saturday last thus guaranteeing promotion to division 1 next year. The club wishes Karl Kelly a speedy recovery after he sustained an injury before Saturday's game.  

The Cooney Motors sponsored juniors were defeated by Micheal Glavey's in the division 5 league on Sunday last. They have two games this week in the Junior B championship, they play Fuerty on Wednesday evening in Oran at 8pm and play Kilglass Gaels on Sunday July 23rd in the Abbey Park at 2pm.

Congratulations to David O'Connor, senior team selector who celebrated a significant birthday recently.

Congratulations to Enda, Donie and Cian on claiming the Connacht senior championship on Sunday last. Well done to Enda who received the man of the match award.

Well done the Cooney Motors sponsored juniors who defeated St. Faithleach's in the Division 5 league last Saturday evening. Their next game is away to Michael Glavey's Sunday July 16th, in Ballinlough at 1pm.

The McGovern directional drilling sponsored seniors play St. Faithleach's in the Division 2 league next Staturday evening July 15th, in the Abbey Park at 6:30pm.

UNDERAGE:The U-14 division 1 team were defeated by Clann Na nGael in the championship last week. The U-16 division 1 team play Strokestown Monday 10th, in the Abbey Park at 7:30pm. They also play St. Brigids Sunday 16th, in the Abbey Park at 12:00pm.

LADIES FOOTBALL:

U8 & U10 played their first Go games against Tulsk on Thursday.  Well done to all the girls.

Update 3rd July

The Cooney Motors sponsored juniors who were defeated by St. Faithleach's in the Junior B championship on Saturday last. Their next outing is against St. Faithleach's in the division 5 league Friday July 7th, in Abbey Park at 8pm.

All roads lead to St Joseph’s Hall in Boyle next Friday June 30th for what will be a very enjoyable night for all Gaelic Football supporters. The ‘Road To Croker’ event brings together a range of household names in Gaelic Football for an evening that is not to be missed.
The Sunday Game pundits Joe Brolly and Martin Carney, two time All Ireland winning manager John O Mahony, former Dublin captain Collie Moran, Roscommon's inimitable Shane Curran, leading GAA administrator John Prenty and former Galway stalwart Brian Talty will all bring a wealth of Gaelic Football knowledge and experience to St Joseph's Hall in Boyle for what promises to be a very entertaining evening. Topics on the agenda will include championship formats, team preparation, the current state of the game and of course the upcoming provincial finals in all four provinces.
Speaking at the launch of the event, kindly sponsored by Cooney Motors, Boyle Kathleen Hanmore, Chairperson of Boyle GAA Club commented '‘We’re delighted to host this Gaelic Football forum and feel that this evening will yield invaluable insights into the game given the vast experience of our star- studded panel of speakers. Above all, we look forward to a wonderful night of entertainment. We are also very pleased to announce that a donation from our proceeds will be made to the Irish Kidney Association'.
In addition, somebody in the audience will end up on the road to croker themselves with the attractive raffle prize of an All-Ireland Football Final weekend in Dublin with two tickets for the final.

UNDERAGE FOOTBALL:
The U-12 division 1 and 5 teams were unlucky losing their respective finals over the weekend. The U-14 team suffered defeat to Castlerea in the Garda Cup last week. The U-14's start their championship with an away fixture in Woodmount against Padraig Pearses next Thursday June 29th, at 7:30pm.

LADIES FOOTBALL: 
Well done to the Ladies  on winning their first Round of the Championship. Round 2 against St. Ciarans in the Abbey Park at 12pm on Sunday 2nd July.
