Update 25th April

Deirdre O’Connor and John Tansey were €20 in the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held Wynne’s Bar. The house prize was won by Darren Beirne. The jackpot wasn’t won and it will be at a new record of €11,400 for this Saturday night’s draw which will be held in Creighton’s. Team D will be in charge.

A depleted McGovern Directional Drilling Limited Seniors had ahard earned but vital win over Oran in Rockfield on Sunday. Their next outing will be against Castlerea St Kevins in the first round of the Senior Championship on Sunday week 8th May in the Abbey Park at 2pm.
The Cooney Motors/Cooney Centra Juniors play St. Ronan's in the Division 4 league on Saturday next in the Abbey Park, at 7pm.

The National Automation Minors suffered a defeat to St. Croan's in the Division 3 league on Friday last.

The James Lannon Tyre Centre U-16's received a walkover from Eire Og in the Division 3 league this weekend.

The Cooney Motors/Cooney Centra U-14's defeated Roscommon Gaels in the Division 1 league on Thursday last. They play St. Brigid's in the Division 1 league next Thursday in the Abbey Park, at 7pm.

Our U12s Div 1 and Div 5 teams both had good wins over teams from St Brigids in their respective league games which were played in Abbey Park on Sunday.

The U-12's will play Padraig Pearses in the Division 1 league on Saturday next at 2pm. The U-12's Division 4 team play Padraig Pearses Division 4 team at 3:30pm. Both games to be played in the Woodmount.

Members of Boyle GAA Clubs (Male and Female clubs) who are currently secondary school students are advised that applications are currently being sought by the County Board Gaeltacht Scholarships valued at €200. Applications can be downloaded from the “Culture” section on www.gaaroscommon.ie . Entries must be accompanied by an essay as Gaeilge entitled “An Cumann Lúthchleas Gael sa bhliain 2016”, and the closing date is 29th April.

Don’t forget that the Club is currently holding a “Cash for Clobber” collection. We want sealed bags of old clothes (clean), old footwear and mobile phones-separate bags for footwear and mobiles). The proceeds will go towards purchase of new jerseys for our young players. We encourage every parent to do a “spring clean” and bring bags to the Clubroom NO LATER THAN SATURDAY NEXT 30th APRIL. The Clubrooms will be open from 11am on Saturday. Bags can be deposited by arrangement with any of our team managements at training times.

The Club extends it sympathy to the King family on the death of Mrs Elizabeth (Betty) King, Hanly Avenue.

Best wishes are extended to the Roscommon Senior footballers who will commence their Connacht Championship campaign in Gaelic Park, New York on Sunday next. We wish the players and management (especially the Boyle representatives) a successful trip and we hope that those who are travelling have a great holiday.

Those who have not yet acquired their Club Rossie draw ticket are asked to contact our Club officers immediately. There is €30,000 in prize funds available.

The U-14's were defeated by Clan na nGael in the Feile on Wednesday last. The U-12's play St. Michael's today Monday in Cootehall at 7:30pm.

Update 17th April

The McGovern Directional Drilling Seniors suffered a defeat to a stronger Strokestown in the Division 1 league played in the Abbey Park on Sunday last. Their next outing is against Oran in the Division 1 league this Sunday in Rockfield, at 2pm.

Ladies Football


The U-16's were defeated by Clann na nGael in the 1A Championship semi-final on Sunday last.  The club would like to thank Vinnie, Tom and the entire panel for the fantastic effort that was put in all year. A big thank you to all the parents for there help and assistant too.

The U-12's play Elphin/Kilmore in the league this evening Monday in Elphin at 7pm.

Update 11th April

The James Lannon Tyre Centre U-16's defeated Elphin in the Division three league on Tuesday last.
The U14 Division 1 team will play Padraig Pearses in Páirc an Phiarsaigh on Thursday at 7pm, while the U14 Division 4 team is scheduled to entertain St Brigids in the Abbey Park, Thursday at 7pm.
The National Automation Limited minors will play Western Gaels in the Division 3 League in Frenchpark on Friday at 7pm.

The U-12's defeated St. Ciaran's in the Division one league last week and will travel to Páirc an Phiarsaigh on Sunday morning to play their respective Division 1 (at 11am) and Division 5 (at 12.30) against Padraig Pearses.
Our McGovern Directional Drilling seniors will host Strokestown in the Abbey Park at 2pm on Sunday in the O’Rourke Cup. Club members are asked to make themselves available at 12.30pm on Sunday to act as stewards for this game.

Michael Brennan and Gus and Lisa McDermott were €20 winners at the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Kate Lavins. The house prize was won by Jackie Harvey. The jackpot wasn’t won and it will be at a new record high of €11,300 for next Saturday night’s draw which will be held in Wynne’s Bar. Team C will be in charge.

The Club extends its sympathy to the McGee family on the death of Richard McGee, The Crescent and to the Byrne family on the passing of Gerry Byrne, Ardcarne.

Ladies Football: Congratulations are extended to Aine Mullins and Sinead Glennon who have been selected to represent Roscommon ladies at U-16 level. Their first round of the Championship is on Wednesday 13th April V Galway in Johnstown at 7.30 pm.


The U-12 girls play Kilglass Gaels this evening in the Abbey Park at 7pm. The U-16 girls are away to St. Barry's this evening in Tarmonbarry at 7:45pm.

Update 4th April

The Cooney Motors/Cooney Centra Junior team were defeated by St. Croan's in the Division five league in Enfield on Sunday last. Their next outing is scheduled for April 30th.

The James Lannon Tyre Centre U-16's defeated a combined Kilglass Gaels/St. Barry's away in the Division Three league. Boyle play Elphin in the Division three league this Tuesday April 5th in the Abbey Park at 6:45pm.

The Cooney Motors/Cooney Centra U-14's defeated St. Ciaran's away in the Division One league. The Division four team play St. Croan's Wednesday April 6th in the Abbey Park at 6:30pm.

The U-12's play St. Ciaran's Saturday April 9th in the Abbey Park at 12 noon.

Tickets are currently available from Club Officers for the upcoming Club Rossie Draw. There is a prize fund of €30,000 and the draw proceeds will be used on the ongoing development of Gaelic Games in Co. Roscommon.
The Club will be holding its annual “cash for clobber” campaign over the next three weeks. We are encouraging each household to do a spring clean by collecting all unwanted clean clothes , footwear and old mobile phones and bring them in plastic bags to the Clubroom on each of the next three Saturdays from 11am to 1pm.

All teams and team managers are advised that the training pitch in the Abbey Park will be unavailable from Thursday to Sunday (both days inclusive) of this week to facilitate a circus.

Sympathy is extended to the relatives of the late John O’Brien, the Warren, and to the Cregg family, Ballymore on the death of Mrs Bridie Cregg.

Commiserations to the Roscommon U21 team and management on their heartbreaking loss in the Connacht Final. There is no doubt that there are great futures in store for this talented group of players.

Best wishes to our Roscommon seniors against Kerry in their Allianz National Football League Semi Final this weekend in Croke Park.

The Club would to thank Bank of Ireland Boyle for their generous cheque of €500 towards to our U-14 team, who are taking part in the Feile football festival this year.
