Update 29th August

Donal O’Connor and Rachel Lavin were €20 winners at our most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Wynne’s Bar. The house prize was won by Niall Toolan. The jackpot wasn’t won at it will be at €1,300 for next Saturday night’s draw which will be held in Creighton’s Bar. Team C will be in charge.

It was a great weekend for our McGovern Directional Drilling Seniors who had a wonderful win over Clan na Gael in the final group game of the Hodson Bay Hotel Group Senior Championship in Enfield on Saturday evening last. This victory means that Boyle has qualified for the County Senior Quarter Final in which they will play St. Faithleachs on Sunday week. It furthermore means that Boyle will remain in Section A of the Senior Championship for another year.

In the meantime the Seniors are scheduled to play Western Gaels in the final round of the Division 1 League (O’Rourke Cup) this weekend. Details will be provided when available.

The National Automation Limited Minors suffered a one-point loss to Michael Glaveys in the Division 3 Championship on Monday last in Ballinlough. They got back to winning ways on Thursday evening last when they had a convincing win over Western Gaels. They will host St Ronans in their next championship outing on this Thursday at 7.30pm in the Abbey Park.

The U14s will travel to Pairc an Phiarsaigh on Thursday to play Padraig Pearses at 7pm in the Division 1 Championship.

The U12 Division 5 team had an exciting win (after extra time) over Roscommon Gaels in the Abbey Park on Sunday. This victory qualifies them for the final of the Summer League competition.

The U12 Division 1 team will play their Summer League Final against Clan na Gael on Saturday next at 12 noon. Please come along and show your support to these promising young boys.

Well done to the U-8 team who travelled to Centre of Excellence, Ballyhauis on Saturday last to take part in a blitz.

The Club was proud to have been chosen as the location for the Wheelchair Hurling Interprovincial competition. Boyle Sports Complex was the perfect venue and it proved to be a most exciting and inspiring event. Thanks especially to Barry Lowe, who is Roscommon’s representative on the Connacht GAA Games for All Committee for bringing the event to Boyle. Thanks are extended to all Club members and others who helped with the staging of the event.

Those who wish to empty out their wardrobes at the end of summer are reminded that the Club is holding another Cash for Clobber collection. Old clothes, footwear, mobile phones etc are most welcome. Please contact any Club officer to arrange for delivery of bags of material to the Clubroom.

The Club extends its sympathy to County Underage Committee Chairperson Frank Egan, Knockroe, on the death of his mother Mrs. Dolly Egan, Castleplunket. Sympathy is also extended to the Butler family, Boyle on the passing of Padraig Butler, Carrick Road and Curlew View, Boyle.  


LADIES FOOTBALL:

 The Minors travel to Johnstown Saturday evening to play Clan na nGael in the Division 1 championship semi-final, throw-in is at 6pm. Please come out and support the girls.

Update 22nd August

Boyle U-12's are currently going through a very busy schedule. The Division 1 team had Summer League victories over Strokestown and St Brigid's and a one-point win over Clan na nGael in an exciting high scoring game. Our U-12 Division 5 team defeated Kilglass Gaels and lost to St Brigid's by one point in their Summer League.

Our U14s are scheduled to play Padraig Pearses in the Division 1 Championship on this Thursday in Páirc an Phiarsaigh at 7pm.

The National Automation Limited minors play Michael Glaveys on this Monday at 7.30pm in Ballinlough in the Division 3 Championship, and they will host Western Gaels on this Thursday at 7.30pm in the next round of their championship.

The McGovern Directional Drilling Seniors lost to Clan na nGael in monsoon-like conditions in the Abbey Park on Saturday evening. They will meet the same opposition in the final group game of the Hodson Bay Hotel Group Senior Championship in Enfield (St Croans grounds, Ballintubber) on Saturday at 6.45pm. We urge all our supporters to come along and support the lads.

The Club is delighted and honoured that Boyle has been chosen as the venue for the final round of the M Donnelly GAA Interprovincial Wheelchair Hurling League. The event will be held in Boyle Sports Complex on Saturday. The opening ceremony will be held at 10.15am and the games will begin at 11am. The competition comprises of panels of both male and female players. The Connacht panel of ten players includes Fergal Mahon and Sarah Cregg from Western Gaels.  One of the coaches is Roscommon player Cathal Cregg. Boyle Club member and Roscommon County Board delegate to the Connacht GAA Games for All Committee, Barry Lowe, is responsible for co-ordinating this Wheelchair Hurling Interprovincial in Boyle. Barry is asking Club members to assist on the day. Admission is free and all are welcome to come along and support the Connacht team in its quest to win the interprovincial title.


LADIES FOOTBALL:

Well done to the Minors who defeated St. Croan's in the championship over the weekend. The U-14's play Elphin/Kilmore in Kilmore this evening at 7pm.

Update 15th August

Catherine and Andrew Carr and Paddy McLoughlin were €20 winners in the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Kate Lavins. Martina Furey was the house prize winner. The jackpot wasn’t won and it will be at €1,200 for next Saturday night’s draw which will be held in Wynnes’s Bar and Team B will be in charge.

The McGovern Directional Drilling seniors had a two point win over Roscommon Gaels in the Hodson Bay Hotel Group Senior Championship 4th round thriller in Elphin on Sunday. They are scheduled to play Clan na Gael in the O’Rourke Cup on Sunday evening next at 6.30pm.

The Cooney Motors/Cooney’s Centra Juniors lost to Roscommon Gaels in the Junior B Championship in Lisnamult on Friday evening last.

The Club’s Monster Auction which was held in the Sports Complex on Saturday was an outstanding success. The Club extends its gratitude to all who donated in excess of 170 top quality items which were auctioned on the day. Thanks to those who attended and purchased – all items were sold. Thanks is extended to everyone who helped in any way with the preparations for and the holding of the event. We hope we will be forgiven if we single out our excellent Auctioneer Mike Smith Junior for his professionalism and expertise.

The Club wishes to thank all who assisted in the successful hosting of the Intermediate Championship double header in the Abbey Park on Saturday evening. It was an extremely busy day for the Club and its resources were stretched to the limit to cover both events.

Our U12s defeated Padraig Pearses in both the Div 1 and Div 5 Summer League. Both tteams will make the trip to Kiltoom on Thursday to play St Brigids at 6.30pm and 7.30pm respectively on this Monday and they are scheduled to play Clan na Gael in Johnstown on Thursday evening.

The James Lannon Motors U16s got a walkover from Tulsk in the Div 4 Championship. They are scheduled to play Padraig Pearses in their next outing on Thursday at 8.15pm in Abbey Park. In the Div 3 Championship there was a misunderstanding in regard to the date of their game with Eire Og. They are scheduled to play Elphin/ Ballinameen in the next round of this competition on Sunday evening next at 7.30 in Abbey Park.

Our U14s are scheduled to play Padraig Pearses in the Division 1 Championship on Thursday at 7pm (the first game in a double header with the U16s.

The National Automation Limited Minors are due to play Michael Glaveys in the Division 3 Championship on Thursday evening at 7.30pm in Ballinlough.


LADIES FOOTBALL:  The Intermediate ladies were defeated in their championship game against Western Gaels over the weekend. Well done to the minors who have defeated Shannon Gaels and St. Barry's in the championship and their final group game against St. Croan's to come. Date and Venue TBC.

Update 7th August

Our McGovern Directional Drilling Seniors suffered an agonising 3 point defeat to Padraig Pearses in the 3rd round of the Hodson Bay Hotel Senior Football Championship at wet and windy Tulsk on Sunday. The lads went in leading by 3 points at half time despite having played against the wind. Pearses upped their game in the second half, soring 2 further goals, to run out 3 point winners. Boyle will have a chance to redeem themselves on Sunday next when they play their 4th round Senior Championship game against Roscommon Gaels in the first game of a double header in Elphin at 4pm. We again appeal to our loyal supporters to come along again for this vital game in what is proving to be a close group.

Our U12 Division 5 team had a one goal win over Roscommon Gaels in the Summer League in Lisnamult . They have a busy schedule coming up with both the Division 1 and Division 5 teams due to make the long journey to Woodmount on Saturday next to play Padraig Pearses at 2pm and 3.15pm respectively. They are also scheduled to host St Brigids in the Abbey Park in the next rounds of the Division 1 and Division 5 Summer League on Tuesday 15th at 7.30pm and 7.30pm respectively.

Our U16s are scheduled to play Eire Og on this Tuesday at t.30pm in the Division 3 Championship in Loughglynn.

The Club will host a very attractive Intermediate Championship double header in the Abbey Park on Saturday next, with Shannon Gaels taking on St Barrys at 5.15pm and St Michaels playing Eire Og at 7pm. All Club members are asked to be present 3.45pm to act as stewards.

Saturday 13th will be a hugely busy day for the Club as it will stage its Monster Auction in the Sports Complex at 1pm. There are approximately 150 lots including household furniture, mechanical and electrical goods,  All Ireland Football Final and Manchester United tickets, turf, coal, timber, educational and interviewing tuition vouchers, weekend away and golfing vouchers, car services, beauty, make up and hairdressing vouchers. There will be a catalogue available on the day and all items will be on display. Ample car parking will be available. Please come early to  view what’s on offer. All goods will be sold on the day and all proceeds will go towards the support of the Club.

Ladies Club

The Boyle Ladies lost to a stronger Padraig Pearses in the Championship on Tuesday last. A slow first half start left themwith too much to do despite an encouraging second half..

The Club extends sympathy to our Club President Barry Feely, and to the extended Feely family on the death of Barry’s sister in law Charlotte in Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow.

Update 1st August

John Finneran and Myles Quinn were €20 winners at the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Patrick’s Well. The house prize was won by Joanne McPhearson. The jackpot wasn’t won and it will stand at €1,100 for next Saturday night’s draw which will be held in Kate Lavins and Team A will be in charge.

The Club hosted an enjoyable event in the Clubroom on Saturday evening last to honour our recent Club Lotto jackpot winner of €11,900 Padraig Sweeney, Drumshanbo. Padraig and his wife Joan were present. Club Chairperson Martin Dolan welcomed them and congratulate Padraig on his marvellous win. He thanked the various licensed premises in Boyle who facilitate us with the holding of the fortnightly draw, He also thanked the premises who sell our envelopes, and the Club members who are members of our lotto teams. He appealed for more Club members to assist with the task. He also thanked Lotto Co-ordinator Aidan Lavin for his ongoing commitment. The Chairperson also acknowledged our lotto envelope sponsor Brogans and Natural Options and the envelope printer Purcell Print.

A very young Cooney Motors/Cooney’s Centra Junior team lost to Clan na Gael in a high scoring Division 4 Championship encounter in Johnstown on Friday evening last.

The McGovern Directional Drilling seniors will play their third round of the Senior Championship on Sunday next in Tulsk at 2pm when they take on Padraig Pearses. The Club would appreciate maximum support for this important game.

Boyle GAA Club will hold a Monster Auction on August 13th in the Sports Complex, Boyle starting at 1pm. Some of the items to be auctioned include: 2 All-Ireland Football Final Tickets, furniture (3-piece suite, coffee tables, table and chairs), vouchers for Beauticians, Barbers, Hairdressers, Mens clothing, Hotel break, Car servicing, English higher level leaving cert grinds, signed Joe Canning Hurley, signed Roscommon Jersey, bags of turf, timber, pass for the races, bottles of spirits, 20 pints of beer, pass for Zip-it, yearly passes to Lough Key, Jewellery and voucher for Vets practice and a completed Will by Solicitor. The Cooney Motors/Centra sponsored U-14s had a good win over St Ciarans in the Division 1 Championship last week.

U12s are scheduled to play Roscommon Gaels on Sunday next in Lisnamult in the Summer League in both Div 1 and Div 5. The Div 1 game is at 11am and the Div 5 game is at 12 noon.
