Update 19th December

Tom/Deirdre Kearney and Anto Kenny were €20 winners at the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Wynne's bar. The house prize was won by Martina Roddy. The jackpot wasn’t won. It will be at €2,200 for the next draw on Friday December 30th which will be held in Creighton's Bar, with Team B in charge. The Club is encouraging those who have not yet signed up for the Club Lotto draw for 2017 to do so immediately by contacting any of the Club officers. On joining the club lotto you will be entered into a draw for 5 prizes of €100. The draw will take place on the night of our Christmas quiz.

Our annual Christmas quiz night will take place on the 28th December at 7:30pm in St. Joseph's Hall. The club encourages all people associated with club from near and far to come along and attend what is always guaranteed to a great night.

The Minor committee held their AGM recently and the following officer's were elected: Chairperson: Jim McGrath; Vice-Chairperson: Bryan Kennedy; Secretary: Jim McGrath; Fixtures Secretary: Kevin O'Connor; PRO: Geoffrey Henry; County Board Delegates: Jim McGrath and Claire Toman; Northern Board Delegates: Bryan Kennedy and Geoffrey Henry and Senior Executive Delegates: Jim McGrath, Maura Casey and Geoffrey Henry. 

On St. Stephen's Day there will be a fundraiser match in the Abbey Park between an over and under 30 selection. Admission is optional and proceeds will be divided between the repair of the club gym and the brothers of charity.

Well done to Enda Smith who presented Connacht in the Railway Cup final held in Carrick-on-Shannon over the weekend.

Congratulations to senior player Roch Hanmore and wife Lorna on their recent marriage.

The 2016 Garda Cup final is on Saturday 10th December at 11am in Boyle between Boyle -v- Kilmore/Shannon Gaels.

Minor Board AGM will be held on Tuesday 6th December in the clubhouse at 8pm.  Everybody welcome to attend.

LADIES FOOTBALL:

At last week's AGM the following officers were elected: Chairperson: Noel Scally; Secretary: Bernie Mullins; Treasurer: Cathy Garavan; Asst Treasurer Marie Kennedy; Registrar: Sabrina Kerins: Asst Registrar Sarah Keenehan; Children's Officer: Mary Scally; PRO: Karen Brogan. In 2016 all underage teams competed in Division 1 of the Championship, with U12's and U14's winning the 1B titles. Looking forward to continued success in 2017.

Update 28th November

Our U14s had a convincing win over Strokestown in the Garda Cup Semi Final on Saturday morning last in Strokestown. They now await the winners of the other semi final (Castlerea St Kevins or Kilmore/Shannon Gaels, in the final which is expected to be played in Abbey Park on Saturday week 10th December.

The Underage Section of the Club ( responsible for all age groups from nursery to minor) will hold its Annual General Meeting in the Clubroom on this Thursday evening 1st December at 8pm. We earnestly invite all parents and all who are interested in the continued promotion of Gaelic Games for our boys of all ages up to and including minor to attend.

The Underage Committee held a very successful and well attended Presentation Evening for our various underage teams in St Joseph’s Hall on Friday last. The medals were presented by Boyle’s County Senior players Enda and Donie Smith and Sean Purcell and County Minor Committee Chairman Frank Egan, all of them giving appropriate words of encouragement to our young footballers. The MC for the event was the ever capable Tony Conboy. Medals were presented to our Under 8 and Under 10 panels to acknowledge their commitment throughout the year. The U12 panellists were presented with their Division 1 Summer League winners medals, while the U16s were presented with their runners up medals, while the National Automation Limited minors were also presented with medals to acknowledge their efforts. The  U14s were presented with awards to acknowledge their Garda Cup (2015) success and Féile participation. Awards were presented to the Feile team management and their partners and to the Féile backroom team. The Underage Committee expresses its deep appreciation of all who sponsored the various aspects of the presentation evening and indeed those who continue to sponsor playing gear and equipment. The gathering was addressed by the Underage Committee Chairman Jim McGrath and Senior Club Chairman Martin Dolan. The Underage Committee made a special presentation to Boyle and Roscommon GAA stalwart Sean Young to acknowledge his lifelong dedication to the coaching of generations of underage Boyle players.

The Senior Club AGM will be held in the Clubroom on Sunday next 4th December at 5pm. Again we encourage everyone who is in any way interested in the continued promotion of Gaelic Football in Boyle to attend. The Club strongly encourages all members to complete and return their nomination forms to Club Secretary Mary Clifford by this Tuesday night. We encourage members to make nominations for the various officerships in the Club.

The annual Christmas Quiz will be held in St Joseph’s Hall on Wednesday night 28th December. This is always the Club’s social event of the year.

The Club wishes to thank all who supported the weekend’s ISPCC churchgate collection which was done by Club members. It yielded €980. Thanks nalso to those who helped in the collection.

Congratulations to Club player David Kelly and his wife Lorraine on the birth of their daughter Anna.
Congratulations also to Kate Gilmartin, Carrick Road who was a member of the winning Team Japan in the Asian Games GAA tournament in Shanghai recently.


Sympathy is extended to the Battles family, The Plains, Boyle on the death of Mrs Joan Battles, to the Keaveney Family, Kingsland on the death of Mrs Keaveney and to County Minor Committee Chairman Frank Egan on the death of his father.

Our U 14s will play Strokestown in the Garda Cup Semi Final on Saturday next at 1.30pm. Please go along and support the lads.

The annual presentation of awards to our underage players and team will take place in St Joseph’s Hall on this Friday evening at 7.30pm. All underage players I.e. all who played in the various age groups from under 18 downwards, are invited to attend. We would also invite all parents, family members and supporters to come along.

The Underage section of the Club will hold its Annual General Meeting within the coming fortnight. Details will be notified locally.

The Annual General Meeting of the overall Club (Underage and Adult) will be held in the Clubroom on Sunday week 4th December at 5pm. Nomination forms have been issued to Club members. We encourage all who have received nomination forms to consider nominating those whom they feel deserve an opportunity to hold any of the Club officer-ship positions. It must be emphasised that anyone who is being nominated for a position should have given consent to their nomination. We urge everyone to implement the nomination process to nominate suitable nominees so that the best people are elected to run our Club into the future. Completed Nomination Forms should be returned to Club Secretary Mary Clifford by Tuesday week 29th November.

A reminder that our big Christmas social event-our annual Table Quiz-will be held in St Joseph’s Hall on Wednesday 28th December.

The Club extends its sympathy to Connacht Council President Michael Rock and the Rock family on the death of his brother, Thomas Rock, Longford. Sympathy is also extended to the Candon family Greatmeadow on the sad passing within 2 days of each other of Sheila and Martin Candon.

Update 14th November


The Club won another piece of silverware at the weekend when our U12s retained the Keenan Cup by defeating Strokestown in Abbey Park on Saturday. Congratulation to the lads and to their management team for their hard work and commitment throughout the year. Thanks to all who helped in the successful staging of the final. Thanks also to Ernie Keenan and family members for their presence to present the Keenan Cup. Thanks also to the Northern Board for continuing to organise this important competition. 

It's now on to the Garda Cup when our U14s will shortly be in action.

Our National Automation Limited U20s played out an exciting draw with Shannon Gaels/Kilmore in the last group game of the County Championship on Sunday in the Abbey Park. This completes their campaign for this competition. Thanks again to the lads for their commitment and thanks to Shane Spellman, Aaron Sharkey and Kevin Teirnan for taking the team this year. 

Our Cooney Motors/Cooney's Centra Juniors will play Padraig Pearses in Div 4 relegation play off on Sunday next in Woodmount at 12 noon. 

Club supporters who have not yet joined our Club Lotto have one final opportunity to be in with a chance of winning one of 5 prizes of €100 by joining by this Tuesday 15th.

The Club AGM will be held in the Clubroom on Sunday evening 4th December. Nomination forms are currently being issued. We would encourage those interested in progressing the Club to put their names forward for the various officer positions.

Leonard Sutton and Padraig Creamer (Ballinamore) were 20 euro winners at the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Dodd’s Bar. The house prize was won by Dan Kennedy. The jackpot wasn’t won. The Club wishes to thank the Dodd family for facilitating the holding of the draw at very short notice. Next Saturday night’s draw will be held in Clarke’s Bar. The jackpot will be at 1,800 euro and Team C will be in charge. 

Supporters are reminded that there is only one week left to avail of the opportunity to have five chances to win 100 euro by signing up to become an annual subscriber to our Club Lotto. All who join by 15th November will be entered into a special draw for the aforementioned prizes. Please contact any of our Club officers for details.

Saturday next will be a big day for the Club as we will host the Keenan Cup Final at 11.30 am in the Abbey Park when our U12s will play Strokestown. Please come along and support these two fine teams.

Our National Automation Limited U20s played out an exciting draw with Tulsk Lord Edwards in Tulsk on Sunday in the second group game of the Division 2 Championship. They will host a Shannon Gaels/ Kilmore combination in the next round of this competition in the Abbey Park on Sunday next at 12 noon.
Our Cooney Motors/ Cooney’s Centra juniors are scheduled to play Padraig Pearses in the Division 4 relegation play off on the following weekend.

Boyle Underage Committee will hold its annual presentation evening on 25th November. Further details will be provided in the coming weeks.


Boyle (male) GAA Club AGM will be held on Sunday 4th December in the Clubroom. Nomination forms will issue to all Club members in the coming week. The Underage section of the club will hold its annual meeting in the meantime and on a date to be determined.

Update 31st October

Our National Automation Limited U20s lost out to a superior Elphin/Ballinameen combination in their first game of this year’s County Championship in Elphin on Saturday afternoon. Thanks to Shane Spellman and his management team for putting together a panel of promising young players. Thanks also to the lads who responded to the cause. The lads will be in action again on Sunday next when they will play Tulsk in Tulsk at 1 pm.

The Garda Cup and Keenan Cup competitions are ongoing. Boyle will host the Keenan Cup Final and it’s expected to be played in Abbey Park on Saturday week 12th November and the home team will be involved.

We are awaiting news of our first Garda Cup fixture.

The Club wishes to thank the following who have sponsored gear for our U12 footballers and their management; - John Filan Landscaping, Keville Engineering and XL Foodstore, Abbeytown, Boyle who have joined forces to sponsor shorts and socks for the players and training tops for the management team. Callan Tansey Solicitors, Boyle sponsored gear bags for the boys while Version 1, Dublin sponsored a new set of jerseys. At a photocall and reception in the Clubroom on Friday night last which was attended by the players and their parents and the sponsors, Club Chairperson, Martin Dolan thanked the sponsors for their generosity. Noel Casey, team manager expressed thanks on behalf of the players and management.

There are just 2 weeks left for joining our Club Lotto and earning five chances of winning 100 euro for doing so. This deadline will expire on 15th November and those wishing to set up direct debits should contact Aidan Lavin, James O’Boyle or any officer of the male or female clubs.
The Club sends its sincere congratulations to former Club player and current senior management team member Cian Smith and Michelle Garvin who got married on Friday last in Ballinameen. We wish them a long and happy married life together.


The Club extends its sympathy to the Beirne family, 1 Lower Marian Road on the death of Johnny Beirne. Johnny was a former Boyle footballer and a member of the Boyle 1964 County Junior Championship winning panel.

Cian Smith and Aoife McGrath were 20 euro winners in the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Dodds. The house prize was won by George Cogan, The jackpot wasn’t won and it will be at 1,700 euro for next Saturday night’s draw which will be held in An Craoibhin. Team B will be in charge.

The Club is currently actively encouraging those interested in supporting the Club Lotto and the running of the Club, to sign up to pay annually or to pay by direct debit. There is a saving to be made by doing so and members will be able to participate in 26 draws per year. As an incentive, all who join before 15th November will be entered into a special draw for 5 prizes of 100 euro. You may do so by making contact with Club Treasurer James O’Boyle or Lotto Coordinator Aidan Lavin or any club officer.

The National Automation Limited U20s will commence their U20 Championship campaign on Saturday next when they will play and Elphin/Ballinameen selection in the Orchard Park at 4.30pm.
Our Keenan Cup team has qualified for this year’s final which will be played in the Abbey Park on a date to be confirmed.

Congratulations to our North Roscommon colleagues in Kilmore on winning the County Intermediate Championship title on Sunday.

The Club extends its sympathy to the Dennehy family Elphin and Currahgboy on the death of County Board President and Kilmore Club President Frank Dennehy.

Sympathy is also extended to the Beisty family, Rathcroghan on the death of Roscommon 1944 All Ireland medalist Paddy Beisty.

The U12's play Western Gaels this Saturday in the Keenan Cup semi-final in Frenchpark at 11am. The club express symphony to the Mullins family, Abbeytown on the death of Maurice's brother in Castletownbere, Co. Cork.
Following a very successful Registration evening the GAA Nursery Programme will commence on Monday 17th October 2016 in the Complex from 6pm-6.50pm. This programme is for school going girls & boys in Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First Class. We would like to welcome all the new children and coaches to the Club and wish all involved in this new and exciting initiative the best of luck. We would also like to thank Aidan Ray Menswear, St Patrick Street, Boyle for generously sponsoring the Nursery Programme equipment.

Update 10th October

Marie Lavin and Teresa Ward were  20 euro winners in the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in the Moylurg Inn. The house prize was won by Stephanie Murphy. The jackpot wasn’t won and it will stand at 1,600 euro for next Saturday night’s draw which will be held in Dodd’s Bar. Team A will be in charge.

Boyle GAA Clubs (Male and female clubs) are encouraging our many members, supporters and friends who are not already enrolled as members our Club Lotto, to join before 15th November next. Those who join before that date will be entered into a special draw for five prizes of 100 euro each. Membership will enable you to be eligible for our fortnightly draw for chances to win the jackpot and for our fortnightly members draw for 20 euro. The Scór na nÓg competitions will commence shortly in Co Roscommon. This involves competition for all U17 boys and girls from each GAA Club in events such as figure dancing, set dancing, solo singing, instrumental music, recitation, ballad group, drama and quiz. Each club is encouraged to enter teams and individuals for as many of the events as possible. The County Semi Final will be held in Elphin on 19thNovember and entries must be submitted by 8th November. Details may be obtained from the secretaries of the Boyle Minor Committee and the Ladies Club.

The National Blood Transfusion Service will be in St Joseph’s Hall on this Wednesday from 4.30pm until 8pm. The Club is encouraging all its adult players and members to make a special effort to call in a give a blood donation. Your donation will save a life.

Well done and congratulations to the U14's girls who were crowned Division 1B champions over the weekend. From all accounts it was a excellent team performance all round. Thanks to all the parents and supporters who travelled to this game and all games throughout the year. update 3rd October

Our McGovern Directional Drilling Seniors reached the end of their Hodson Bay Hotel Group Senior Championship campaign on Sunday when they went down to a superior and physically stronger and more experienced St Brigids in the County Semi Final in Strokestown.

It has been a great championship run for the team, reaching the semi final for the first time since 1927. No doubt this will be a great learning experience for all.Thanks a million to the entire panel for their commitment throughout the entire season. Thanks also to Michael Jordan and his excellent management team. We wish to thank Tony McGovern for providing food for the lads after the game on Sunday. Finally, we wish to thank our magnificent supporters who have followed us throughout the year,

Congratulations to our u14s on being presented with the Garda Cup for 2015 after receiving a walkover from Tulsk on Sunday. Thanks to the Boyle Garda Division and to Sergeant Frank Egan and Garda Michael Pilkington for presenting the cup and the medals. Thanks to those who provided food for refreshments after the presentations. Thanks also to Loyola Kelly who presented the player of the match trophy in memory of her husband the late Sergeant John Kelly. The trophy was presented to Stephen O’Connor for his performance in the A versus B game that was played among the Boyle panel, with the assistance of two Tulsk players. The 2016 Garda Cup competition will commence very shortly. Details will be provided. The Keenan Cup competition will also commence in the coming weeks.

The U20 Championship will commence on the weekend of 15th/16th October when Boyle will host  a Kilmore/ Shannon Gaels combination in Abbey Park.
The Cooney Motors/ Cooney’s Centra Juniors are due to play Padraig Pearses in a Division 4 relegation play-off very shortly.

LADIES FOOTBALL:

The U-14s play Kilmore/Elphin in the Division 1b final in Ballyleague Sunday October 9th at 12noon.
We are delighted to announce that Boyle Ladies GAA Club and Boyle GAA Club are joining forces to start up a joint GAA Nursery Programme for school going Girls and Boys in Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st Class.

The Nursery Programme is a series of fun based exercises to develop movement, motor skills, agility, balance, coordination, running and jumping skills. These skills form the basis for the later development of the specific skills of Hurling, Camogie and Gaelic Football.
The Nursery Programme will be run in two 7 week blocks, Block 1 commencing on Monday 17th October 2016 (6-7pm, Indoor Venue) & Block 2 commencing February 2017 date to be confirmed.

Registration for the Nursery Programme will be held in Boyle GAA Clubhouse on Wednesday 5th October 2016 between 7pm-8pm. Information on the Nursery Programme will also be available there.

Update 26th September

The highlight of the week end has to be the performance of our U12s in comprehensively winning the Division 1 Summer League Final against Roscommon Gaels in wind swept Fuerty on Sunday. Well done to the entire panel and their management team of Noel Casey, Jim McGrath, Brendan Doherty and Stephen Garavan. Thanks to all parents and supporters who made the trip to the final and provided transport, not just on this occasion, but throughout the entire season. It is greatly appreciated. Thanks also to Troy Takeaway for providing very welcome food for the boys on their return to the Clubroom.

Joe O’Donnell and Cooney Motors/ Cooney’s Centra were €20 winners in the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Daly’s Lounge. The house prize was won by Aidan Farrell. The jackpot wasn’t won and it will be at €1,500 for this Saturday night’s draw which will be held in the Moylurg Inn. Team E will be in charge.
Thanks to all who provided bags of clothing for the “Cash for Clobber”, thus making it a very successful campaign.

Sunday next will be a very busy day for the Club. The Abbey Park will be the venue for the staging of the 2015 Garda Cup Final when Boyle will play Tulsk at 11.30am. We would appreciate maximum support for our lads in this very attractive final. The 2016 Garda Cup competition will commence on the following weekend. Details will be provided.

Sunday afternoon will see our McGovern Directional Drilling seniors travel to Strokestown to take on St Brigids in the Hodson Bay Hotel Group County Senior Championship Semi Final. This will be Boyle’s first participation in a County Senior Semi Final in living memory and we again encourage maximum support from the entire community in Boyle and indeed North Roscommon as a whole. We also encourage residents and businesses to put up ther maroon and white flags to show support to the lads and their management.
The Keenan Cup competition will commence very shortly. Details will be provided.

The U14 girls play Clann na Gael in the Division 1 championship semi final Friday evening in Johnstown at 7:30pm.

Update 19th September

The championship season has drawn to an end for some of our underage teams. Our U14 Division 1 team lost to a stronger St Brigids team in the County Semi Final on Friday night last. The lads and their management have had a busy season to date, including their Féile adventure. They have the Garda Cup competition starting shortly.

The U12 Division 5 team suffered an agonising 2 point loss to Roscommon Gaels in their Summer League County Final in Castlerea on Saturday last. Thanks to the lads for their commitment throughout the season and to their dedicated management team, and to the many parents who made the trip to their games all year. Some of them are not finished yet as they will be part of the Division 1 squad which is scheduled to meet Roscommon Gaels again this coming weekend. Details will be notified. Parents and supporters are urged to lend their support again this weekend.

The Cooney Motors/ Cooney’s Centra Juniors are scheduled to play Strokestown in the Division 4 League on Sunday next at 12 noon in the Abbey Park.

The McGovern Directional Drilling seniors are preparing for their County Semi Final against St Brigids. The game has been confirmed for Strokestown on Sunday week 2nd October at 3pm. We encourage all our supporters from far and near to put this date in their diaries.

Congratulations are extended to Tracey McGovern and James Sheridan who got married at the weekend.

LADIES FOOTBALL: 


U14 Ladies team had a great win over Shannon Gaels 6-06 to 2-06 in the Division 1 Qtr final. They will play Clann na Gael in the semi final. Date and time tbc. Congratulations to Emer Killilea and her husband on the birth of their second baby son.

Terry and Fiona Mattimoe and David Gallagher were €20 winners in the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Creightons. Trish Murtagh was the winner of the house prize. The jackpot wasn’t won and it will be at €1,400 for this Saturday’s night’s draw which will be held in Daly’s. Team D will be in charge.

The highlight of the week on they playing fields was the excellent performance of our McGovern Directional Drilling seniors on winning the Hodson Bay Hotel Group County Quarter Final against St Faithleachs in Kilglass on Sunday. They will be looking forward to meeting St Brigids in the County Semi Final on Sunday 2nd October. Thanks to all who went along to Kilglass to support the lads-it is greatly appreciated.

Our Cooney Motors/ Cooney’s Centra Juniors will play St Faithleachs in the Junior B Championship in Abbey Park on Saturday next at 5pm.
Our U14s will travel to Kiltoom to play St Brigids in the Division 1 Semi Final on Friday evening.
Our U12s Division 5 team will play Roscommon Gaels in the Summer League County Final on Saturday—details to be announced. The U12 Division 1 team will also play Roscommon Gaels in their County Final on the following weekend.
Preparations are underway for the upcoming U20 Football Championship.

The Club wishes to remind everyone that the “Cash for Clobber” campaign will finish on Saturday 24th September, and those who wish to  get rid of old clothes and old mobile phones etc should make arrangements with any of our Club officers to have the items taken in at the Clubroom.

LADIES FOOTBALL:

The minors were defeated by Clan na nGael in the Division one semi-final on Saturday last. Special thanks to all players and management for a great season. The U14s went down to a stronger St. Brigids in championship on Friday last.

The Sean Daly Cup final was held in the Abbey Park on Saturday last, Castlerea and Elphin/Kilmore contested the final. Sean Daly was one of the founder members of Boyle Ladies club and after his untimely passing the Daly family donated a cup to the Boyle Ladies club to be used in competitions for the promotion of ladies football at underage level. We were delighted to host the competition again this year. congratulations to Elphin / Kilmore on a great win.

Update 5th September

It was a good week for our underage teams. The U12 Div 1 team defeated Clan na Gael in the Summer League semi final in Abbey Park on Saturday. They will meet Roscommon Gaels in the final on a date to be confirmed. The U12 Div 5 team is also in the final of their section and they will also meet Roscommon Gaels.

The U14s beat Padraig Pearses in the last round of the Div 1 Championship in Woodmount on Thursday evening last. They have now finished their playing programme in this competition. They will have the Garda Cup competition coming up shortly.

The National Automation Limited Minors finished their programme with a draw with a St Ronans/St Michaels combination in Abbey Park on Thursday evening last.

The McGovern Directional Drilling seniors finished their O’Rourke Cup campaign with a two point loss to Western Gaels in a game that was played in a downpour in Ballyforan on Friday evening last. They will play their biggest game of the year on Sunday next a 3.45pm in Kilglass in the Hodson Bay Group County Senior Football Championship Quarter Final against St Faithleachs. We encourage all club members and supporters to make the trip to Kilglass to roar on the lads.

We again issue a reminder regarding our Cash for Clobber campaign. The collection will finish on Saturday 24th September and we encourage each household to do an “end of summer” clean out and bring all old clothes, footwear or old mobile phones to the Clubroom in advance of the collection. Arrangements to drop off material can be made with any of our Club members.

The Seán Daly Cup Final will be played in the Abbey Park on Saturday at 1pm between Castlerea St Kevins and Elphin/Kilmore. The Club extends its congratulations to former Boyle player Aine O’Connor and former Roscommon and Elphin player Brian Higgins who got married on Friday last.

Update 29th August

Donal O’Connor and Rachel Lavin were €20 winners at our most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Wynne’s Bar. The house prize was won by Niall Toolan. The jackpot wasn’t won at it will be at €1,300 for next Saturday night’s draw which will be held in Creighton’s Bar. Team C will be in charge.

It was a great weekend for our McGovern Directional Drilling Seniors who had a wonderful win over Clan na Gael in the final group game of the Hodson Bay Hotel Group Senior Championship in Enfield on Saturday evening last. This victory means that Boyle has qualified for the County Senior Quarter Final in which they will play St. Faithleachs on Sunday week. It furthermore means that Boyle will remain in Section A of the Senior Championship for another year.

In the meantime the Seniors are scheduled to play Western Gaels in the final round of the Division 1 League (O’Rourke Cup) this weekend. Details will be provided when available.

The National Automation Limited Minors suffered a one-point loss to Michael Glaveys in the Division 3 Championship on Monday last in Ballinlough. They got back to winning ways on Thursday evening last when they had a convincing win over Western Gaels. They will host St Ronans in their next championship outing on this Thursday at 7.30pm in the Abbey Park.

The U14s will travel to Pairc an Phiarsaigh on Thursday to play Padraig Pearses at 7pm in the Division 1 Championship.

The U12 Division 5 team had an exciting win (after extra time) over Roscommon Gaels in the Abbey Park on Sunday. This victory qualifies them for the final of the Summer League competition.

The U12 Division 1 team will play their Summer League Final against Clan na Gael on Saturday next at 12 noon. Please come along and show your support to these promising young boys.

Well done to the U-8 team who travelled to Centre of Excellence, Ballyhauis on Saturday last to take part in a blitz.

The Club was proud to have been chosen as the location for the Wheelchair Hurling Interprovincial competition. Boyle Sports Complex was the perfect venue and it proved to be a most exciting and inspiring event. Thanks especially to Barry Lowe, who is Roscommon’s representative on the Connacht GAA Games for All Committee for bringing the event to Boyle. Thanks are extended to all Club members and others who helped with the staging of the event.

Those who wish to empty out their wardrobes at the end of summer are reminded that the Club is holding another Cash for Clobber collection. Old clothes, footwear, mobile phones etc are most welcome. Please contact any Club officer to arrange for delivery of bags of material to the Clubroom.

The Club extends its sympathy to County Underage Committee Chairperson Frank Egan, Knockroe, on the death of his mother Mrs. Dolly Egan, Castleplunket. Sympathy is also extended to the Butler family, Boyle on the passing of Padraig Butler, Carrick Road and Curlew View, Boyle.

Update 22nd August

Boyle U-12's are currently going through a very busy schedule. The Division 1 team had Summer League victories over Strokestown and St Brigid's and a one-point win over Clan na nGael in an exciting high scoring game. Our U-12 Division 5 team defeated Kilglass Gaels and lost to St Brigid's by one point in their Summer League.

Our U14s are scheduled to play Padraig Pearses in the Division 1 Championship on this Thursday in Páirc an Phiarsaigh at 7pm.

The National Automation Limited minors play Michael Glaveys on this Monday at 7.30pm in Ballinlough in the Division 3 Championship, and they will host Western Gaels on this Thursday at 7.30pm in the next round of their championship.

The McGovern Directional Drilling Seniors lost to Clan na nGael in monsoon-like conditions in the Abbey Park on Saturday evening. They will meet the same opposition in the final group game of the Hodson Bay Hotel Group Senior Championship in Enfield (St Croans grounds, Ballintubber) on Saturday at 6.45pm. We urge all our supporters to come along and support the lads.

The Club is delighted and honoured that Boyle has been chosen as the venue for the final round of the M Donnelly GAA Interprovincial Wheelchair Hurling League. The event will be held in Boyle Sports Complex on Saturday. The opening ceremony will be held at 10.15am and the games will begin at 11am. The competition comprises of panels of both male and female players. The Connacht panel of ten players includes Fergal Mahon and Sarah Cregg from Western Gaels.  One of the coaches is Roscommon player Cathal Cregg. Boyle Club member and Roscommon County Board delegate to the Connacht GAA Games for All Committee, Barry Lowe, is responsible for co-ordinating this Wheelchair Hurling Interprovincial in Boyle. Barry is asking Club members to assist on the day. Admission is free and all are welcome to come along and support the Connacht team in its quest to win the interprovincial title.

Well done to the Minors who defeated St. Croan's in the championship over the weekend. The U-14's play Elphin/Kilmore in Kilmore this evening at 7pm.

Update 15th August

Catherine and Andrew Carr and Paddy McLoughlin were €20 winners in the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Kate Lavins. Martina Furey was the house prize winner. The jackpot wasn’t won and it will be at €1,200 for next Saturday night’s draw which will be held in Wynnes’s Bar and Team B will be in charge.

The McGovern Directional Drilling seniors had a two point win over Roscommon Gaels in the Hodson Bay Hotel Group Senior Championship 4th round thriller in Elphin on Sunday. They are scheduled to play Clan na Gael in the O’Rourke Cup on Sunday evening next at 6.30pm.

The Cooney Motors/Cooney’s Centra Juniors lost to Roscommon Gaels in the Junior B Championship in Lisnamult on Friday evening last.

The Club’s Monster Auction which was held in the Sports Complex on Saturday was an outstanding success. The Club extends its gratitude to all who donated in excess of 170 top quality items which were auctioned on the day. Thanks to those who attended and purchased – all items were sold. Thanks is extended to everyone who helped in any way with the preparations for and the holding of the event. We hope we will be forgiven if we single out our excellent Auctioneer Mike Smith Junior for his professionalism and expertise.

The Club wishes to thank all who assisted in the successful hosting of the Intermediate Championship double header in the Abbey Park on Saturday evening. It was an extremely busy day for the Club and its resources were stretched to the limit to cover both events.

Our U12s defeated Padraig Pearses in both the Div 1 and Div 5 Summer League. Both tteams will make the trip to Kiltoom on Thursday to play St Brigids at 6.30pm and 7.30pm respectively on this Monday and they are scheduled to play Clan na Gael in Johnstown on Thursday evening.

The James Lannon Motors U16s got a walkover from Tulsk in the Div 4 Championship. They are scheduled to play Padraig Pearses in their next outing on Thursday at 8.15pm in Abbey Park. In the Div 3 Championship there was a misunderstanding in regard to the date of their game with Eire Og. They are scheduled to play Elphin/ Ballinameen in the next round of this competition on Sunday evening next at 7.30 in Abbey Park.

Our U14s are scheduled to play Padraig Pearses in the Division 1 Championship on Thursday at 7pm (the first game in a double header with the U16s.

The National Automation Limited Minors are due to play Michael Glaveys in the Division 3 Championship on Thursday evening at 7.30pm in Ballinlough.


LADIES FOOTBALL:  The Intermediate ladies were defeated in their championship game against Western Gaels over the weekend. Well done to the minors who have defeated Shannon Gaels and St. Barry's in the championship and their final group game against St. Croan's to come. Date and Venue TBC.

Update 7th August

Our McGovern Directional Drilling Seniors suffered an agonising 3 point defeat to Padraig Pearses in the 3rd round of the Hodson Bay Hotel Senior Football Championship at wet and windy Tulsk on Sunday. The lads went in leading by 3 points at half time despite having played against the wind. Pearses upped their game in the second half, soring 2 further goals, to run out 3 point winners. Boyle will have a chance to redeem themselves on Sunday next when they play their 4th round Senior Championship game against Roscommon Gaels in the first game of a double header in Elphin at 4pm. We again appeal to our loyal supporters to come along again for this vital game in what is proving to be a close group.

Our U12 Division 5 team had a one goal win over Roscommon Gaels in the Summer League in Lisnamult . They have a busy schedule coming up with both the Division 1 and Division 5 teams due to make the long journey to Woodmount on Saturday next to play Padraig Pearses at 2pm and 3.15pm respectively. They are also scheduled to host St Brigids in the Abbey Park in the next rounds of the Division 1 and Division 5 Summer League on Tuesday 15th at 7.30pm and 7.30pm respectively.

Our U16s are scheduled to play Eire Og on this Tuesday at t.30pm in the Division 3 Championship in Loughglynn.

The Club will host a very attractive Intermediate Championship double header in the Abbey Park on Saturday next, with Shannon Gaels taking on St Barrys at 5.15pm and St Michaels playing Eire Og at 7pm. All Club members are asked to be present 3.45pm to act as stewards.

Saturday 13th will be a hugely busy day for the Club as it will stage its Monster Auction in the Sports Complex at 1pm. There are approximately 150 lots including household furniture, mechanical and electrical goods,  All Ireland Football Final and Manchester United tickets, turf, coal, timber, educational and interviewing tuition vouchers, weekend away and golfing vouchers, car services, beauty, make up and hairdressing vouchers. There will be a catalogue available on the day and all items will be on display. Ample car parking will be available. Please come early to  view what’s on offer. All goods will be sold on the day and all proceeds will go towards the support of the Club.

Ladies Club

The Boyle Ladies lost to a stronger Padraig Pearses in the Championship on Tuesday last. A slow first half start left themwith too much to do despite an encouraging second half..

The Club extends sympathy to our Club President Barry Feely, and to the extended Feely family on the death of Barry’s sister in law Charlotte in Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow.

Update 1st August

John Finneran and Myles Quinn were €20 winners at the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Patrick’s Well. The house prize was won by Joanne McPhearson. The jackpot wasn’t won and it will stand at €1,100 for next Saturday night’s draw which will be held in Kate Lavins and Team A will be in charge.

The Club hosted an enjoyable event in the Clubroom on Saturday evening last to honour our recent Club Lotto jackpot winner of €11,900 Padraig Sweeney, Drumshanbo. Padraig and his wife Joan were present. Club Chairperson Martin Dolan welcomed them and congratulate Padraig on his marvellous win. He thanked the various licensed premises in Boyle who facilitate us with the holding of the fortnightly draw, He also thanked the premises who sell our envelopes, and the Club members who are members of our lotto teams. He appealed for more Club members to assist with the task. He also thanked Lotto Co-ordinator Aidan Lavin for his ongoing commitment. The Chairperson also acknowledged our lotto envelope sponsor Brogans and Natural Options and the envelope printer Purcell Print.

A very young Cooney Motors/Cooney’s Centra Junior team lost to Clan na Gael in a high scoring Division 4 Championship encounter in Johnstown on Friday evening last.

The McGovern Directional Drilling seniors will play their third round of the Senior Championship on Sunday next in Tulsk at 2pm when they take on Padraig Pearses. The Club would appreciate maximum support for this important game.

Padraig Sweeney from Drumshanbo was the lucky winner of our Club Lotto jackpot of €11,900 at the most recent draw which took place in Clarke’s Bar. The Club extends its heartiest congratulations of Padraig Sweeney, Drumshanbo who was the lucky winner of our Club Lotto jackpot of €11,900. The draw took place in Clarke’s Bar on Saturday night.

The Cooney Motors/Cooney’s Centra Juniors were defeated by St. Dominic's in the Division 4 league last week. They are scheduled to play Kilbride in the next round of the Junior B Championship on Friday evening next 15th July in Kilbride at 8pm.

The National Automation sponsored Minors were defeated by Kilmore/Shannon Gaels in the championship on Saturday last.

The James Lannon Tyre Centre sponsored U-16's play Michael Glaveys in the Division 4 championship on Thursday in the Abbey Park at 7:30pm.

The Club’s Monster Auction has been rescheduled for Saturday 13th August. There will be further details in the coming weeks.

Well done to Seán Purcell and Enda and Donie Smith on their excellent contributions to Roscommon’s draw with Galway in the Connacht Senior Football Final on Sunday. Here’s hoping that they will go one step further and complete the task of claiming the Connacht Title on Saturday next in Castlebar.
