Update 5th September

It was a good week for our underage teams. The U12 Div 1 team defeated Clan na Gael in the Summer League semi final in Abbey Park on Saturday. They will meet Roscommon Gaels in the final on a date to be confirmed. The U12 Div 5 team is also in the final of their section and they will also meet Roscommon Gaels.

The U14s beat Padraig Pearses in the last round of the Div 1 Championship in Woodmount on Thursday evening last. They have now finished their playing programme in this competition. They will have the Garda Cup competition coming up shortly.

The National Automation Limited Minors finished their programme with a draw with a St Ronans/St Michaels combination in Abbey Park on Thursday evening last.

The McGovern Directional Drilling seniors finished their O’Rourke Cup campaign with a two point loss to Western Gaels in a game that was played in a downpour in Ballyforan on Friday evening last. They will play their biggest game of the year on Sunday next a 3.45pm in Kilglass in the Hodson Bay Group County Senior Football Championship Quarter Final against St Faithleachs. We encourage all club members and supporters to make the trip to Kilglass to roar on the lads.

We again issue a reminder regarding our Cash for Clobber campaign. The collection will finish on Saturday 24th September and we encourage each household to do an “end of summer” clean out and bring all old clothes, footwear or old mobile phones to the Clubroom in advance of the collection. Arrangements to drop off material can be made with any of our Club members.

The Seán Daly Cup Final will be played in the Abbey Park on Saturday at 1pm between Castlerea St Kevins and Elphin/Kilmore. The Club extends its congratulations to former Boyle player Aine O’Connor and former Roscommon and Elphin player Brian Higgins who got married on Friday last.
