Belfast trip
The Club’s second annual Social Initiative day out was once again a great success. The Club Rossie bus, driven by our own Damien Regan, brought 46 passengers to visit the Titanic Experience in Belfast on Friday last. All enjoyed this wonderful historical and educational exhibition which had the added attraction of being able to inspect the nearby SS Nomadic. Thanks to all who participated, to Martin and Barry for  organising the event, to Kathleen and James for providing refreshments before departure and Hannah for provision of scones which sustained us on our return journey. Thanks especially to Damien for taking a day off work to drive the bus. Thoughts are already turning to choosing a destination for next year’s trip!

Many thanks to Club historian Tony Conboy for adding three more frames to the already impressive pictorial record  of the Clubs history which graces the walls of the Clubrooms.  The new frames celebrate the  achievements of Sean Young , Micheal O Callaghan and stars of the 80s.    Tony Murphy is also to be complimented on designing the pictorial presentations

There was no winner of this weeks club lotto. The numbers drawn were 12,14,22 and 28. €20 winners were Alan Cooney, Sinead O Donoghue, and Eileen Campbell. The jackpot now stands at €4,100 for next weeks draw in Wynne’s bar.

Boyle Senior Team came from thirteen points down at one stage to defeat St. Faithleach’s by two points in the Division One League on Saturday last at the Abbey Park. With the star names of the Smiths and the Murtaghs this was bound to be a high scoring encounter
The home side endured a nightmare start, conceding 2-08 in the opening nineteen minutes. Boyle’s only score in that time was a Cian McKeon point.
The game turned on its head, thereafter as Kieran Cox (0-01), Donie Smith (2-03) and McKeon reduced the Ballyleaguesides lead.
Half Time: Boyle 2-07, St. Faithleach’s 2-10.
Whatever Boyle manager Basil Mannion said at half-time, must have worked as his side started the second half strongly.
Enda Smith (1-01); Ryan Finneran, Seamus Kane and DonieSmith (0-01 each) all scored to give Boyle the lead for the first time in the match.
Boyle’s third goal arrived halfway through the second half, as this time Dylan East found the back of the net.
Kane and Donie Smith split the uprights, before the Roscommon player completed his hat-trick as he rolled the ball beyond the St. Faithleach’s Goalkeeper.
The away side did get a goal and a couple of points of their own, however Boyle proved too strong in the end to win on a scoreline of Boyle 5-13, St. Faithleachs 3-14.
Next up for Boyle is the first round of the Senior Championship vs Strokestown next Sunday in Strokestown at 3.45.
Boyle Team: R. Kearney, B. Furey, D. Callaghan, Killian Cox, D. East (1-00), T. McKenna, R. Finneran (0-01), Kieran Cox (0-01), E. Smith (1-01), C. Goldrick, D. Smith (3-06), M. Hanmore, S. Kane (0-02), C. McKeon (0-02), M. O’ Donoghue.
Subs used: C. Beirne for Goldrick.
Next outing for the Seniors sees them travel to Strokestown this coming Sunday at 3.45 for the first round of this years championship.

Annual Social Initiative day out
Plans are well advanced as the Club’s plans for its second annual Social Initiative day out for Club members and friends.

This year’s trip is to Belfast to visit the Titanic Experience and it will take place on Friday 20th April.
We have booked the luxurious “Club Rossie” bus and it will be departing from the Abbey Park entrance at circa 8.30am on 20th.

Immediate booking is required as places are filling up rapidly and places are limited to the capacity of the bus. We wish to point out that it is not confined exclusively to GAA members. We welcome equally those who are GAA “experts” and those who have never been at a match in their lives! We also encourage you to bring spouses, partners, neighbours or whatever! We also welcome those from neighbouring clubs and communities. The cost of the trip is €40. This price will cover cost of bus hire, admission to the Titanic Experience and a light meal.

We would appreciate if you would confirm your booking to Martin Dolan at 086 241 3529 or by email at mdolan1954@hotmail.com , or to Barry Lowe at 086 854 5492, by this Friday 13th April. Please note that we will require payment of the fee of €40 by Monday 16th as we have to pay the Titanic Experience in advance of the trip.
