The McGovern Directional Drilling Senior Men met
St Faithleach’s in the last game of their League campaign on Sunday.
Faithleach’s had the pleasure of playing with the wind on their home turf in
the first half and quickly started racking up the points. They had scored 7
times before we added to the board with a low and hard goal from M. O’Donoghue.
Towards the end of the first half G. Gilmartin, who was just back to form was
unfortunately forced off by injury, B. Furey took his place. At half time it
was 1:00 - 0.08. The second half started with more promise as we saw C.
Goldrick sail a free over the bar. Shortly after J. Suffin and J. Moran
replaced R. Finneran and M. O’Connor. With each point we claimed back (J. Moran
& M. Hanmore) Faithleach’s answered and after some rough and tumble it was
left at Boyle 1.04 - St. Faithleach’s 1.11.

Boyle National Automation Minors got their 1st win in the 2nd round of
games in the Division 2 Championship. Boyle travelled to Ballyforan as they
took on their host St Aidans. St Aidans started the brightest as with only a
minute on the clock got the 1st point of the game. Soon afterwards St
Aidans scored another point without answer from Boyle. Boyle got into their
stride to pull level with two points each. Both teams traded points to keep the
game tight early on. St Aidans registered the first goal in game to give them a
small bit of daylight with 5 points in difference mid way through the 1st half.
Boyle upped their game and started to put the points over and with a converted
penalty saw them lead the game at half time by 3 points. Boyle came out the 2nd
half as did finish the 1st and started to keep their side of scoreboard ticking
over. St Aidans got their 2nd goal of the game mid way through the 2nd half
against the run of play. Boyle kept their heads and won the tie 1:17 to 2:7.
Next up for the Minors is a local derby against neighbour's Elphin\Ballinameen
on Tuesday in Abbey Park in their match of Div 2 Championship.
