Update 30th September

Our McGovern Directional drilling sponsored senior team bowed out of this year's Fahy cup in dramatic fashion in the Hyde Park on Sunday. Playing against a strong breeze in the first half Boyle held the ball well and looked good in attack. Boyle could have gone down a goal early on only for a save by Rob Kearney. However Pearses were keen to attack the Boyle goals and before we knew it Pearses had rattled the Boyle net twice in the first half leaving it 2.05 to 5 at half time. Boyle scores coming between Cian Mckeon and Donie Smith. Boyle received what looked like a life line when Pearses were reduced to 14 men for David Murray getting a second yellow.
Boyle came out strong in the second half with McKeon and Cillian Cox getting points before Pearses’ Hubert Darcy got what was to be Pearses 3rd goal. Boyle’s Marc O Connor scored a goal back for Boyle leaving the score at 3.08 to 1.08 before more drama unfolded with confusion over a yellow card to Pearses’ Lorcan Daly. Eventually it was deemed to be his second yellow and therefore a red and Pearses were down to 13 men.
Scores were traded up until the final minutes of normal time where it stood 3.10 to 1.10. With 7 minutes extra time and Pearses with yet again a third red card, Boyle threw all they had at the Pearses posts but it was not to be on this occasion with the score line finishing 3.10 to 1.14. Well done to Basil and his team for all their hard work and commitment shown through out the year.
