Update 14th September

The following were €20 winners in the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in in An Craoibhín;- Paul and Carmel Beirne, Christy Dolan, Loyola Kelly, Finbar McDermott, Martin Feely and Kevin McDonagh. The house prize was won by Eilish Boyd. The jackpot wasn’t won and it ill be a record amount of €9,700 for this Saturday night’s draw which will be held in Dodd’s Bar. Lotto tickets may be purchased in most outlets in Boyle or from any Club officer.

It was a disappointing end to our Senior Championship aspirations for our McGovern Directional Drilling seniors when they were defeated by an injury time goal by Padraig Pearses in the Championship quarter final in Hyde Park on Sunday. It has been a great campaign by the lads, making it the first time for centuries that Boyle reached this stage of the Championship. They have guaranteed themselves senior championship football for the next two seasons as a minimum. This young team has improved rapidly during the season and there is no doubt that the talent and work ethic is there to achieve ultimate success in the near future. Thanks to the lads and to Manager Michael Jordan and his management team for their dedication to the cause. They are not yet finished as they have the O’Rourke Cup semi final against Roscommon Gaels to look forward to.
The National Automation Limited minors lost to Strokestown in Division 2 Championship play-off first game in Strokestown on Friday last. They will play St Faithleachs in the second play-off game in Kilglass on Saturday 26th.

The U12s had a convincing win over Roscommon Gaels in the Division 1 Championship quarter final in Abbey Park on Sunday. They are scheduled to play Clan na Gael in the semi final on Saturday 26th. They will be in action against St Michaels in the Keenan Cup semi final on this Wednesday evening. The Keenan Cup Final has been fixed for Saturday next in the Abbey Park at 12 noon. The participants will be determined by this week’s semi finals. This is always a special event for the Club as the trophy is in memory of the late Ernan Keenan.

The Clubs (Male Club and Ladies Club) will shortly be announcing details of a special fundraising project which should prove very popular with the local community.

Sympathy is extended to former Minor Committee official Claire Conway and family, Lisserlough on the sad passing of the late Gerry Conway. A minute’s silence was observed prior to the Boyle v Padraig Pearses game in Hyde Park on Sunday in memory of Gerry.

Sympathy is also extended to John Greenan and family, Boyle, on the death in New York of Terry Greenan. Terry has resided in the USA for many years where he was actively involved in Gaelic Games. He was responsible for bringing juvenile footballers from Rocklands GAA Club, New York, to Boyle on a couple of occasions.
