On the playing field the
Club had mixed fortune at the weekend. The National Automation Limited minors
bowed out of this years Division 2 Championship when losing to St Faithleachs
in a high scoring play-off game in Kilglass on Saturday. Thanks to our very
young panel of players and the management team led by Donal Kelly for their
dedication throughout the season.
Our U12 boys lost their
Division 1 Summer Football League Semi Final to Clan na Gael in Johnstown on
Sunday. This brings their season to an end. Thanks to the entire panel of boys
who had a respectable season by reaching this semi final and by reaching the
Div 1 and Div 5 spring league finals and winning the Keenan Cup. Thanks to all
who were involved in managing the lads throughout the year.
The Cooney Motors/
Cooney’s Centra Juniors had a good win over Oran in the final group game of the
Junior B Football Championship. They have their league
semi-final fixture to be played.
The McGovern Directional
Drilling Seniors will be back in action on Sunday next at 12 noon in the Abbey
Park in a very important fixture--the O’Rourke Cup Semi Final against Roscommon
Gaels. The Club asks club members to be present from 10.30am for stewarding
duties.
Sympathy is extended to
former Club player and manager Joe Tormey, Deerpark, on the death of his
brother. Sympathy is also extended to the family of the late Vincent Killilea,
The Plains.
Ladies: U14 ladies in
Division 1B County final versus Padraig Pearses Sunday 4th Oct. Venue TBC.
