Update 1st July

There were no games to report from senior ranks this week bar a fixture for the Senior Ladies who are playing the second round of their championship Monday the. 1st of July at 8pm V St. Domnics in the Abbey Park.

This weekend. Past was all about our under 14's.

Féile Péile na nÓg 2019

What a brilliant weekend Boyle GAA had hosting Féile Péile na nÓg in the beautiful Abbey Park. The festivities kicked of the Friday afternoon when the club eagerly waited for our guest club Waterford’s Gaultier GAA club to arrive. The visitors were greeted with the warmest of Boyle welcomes. 

The Féile competition kicked off in earnest late that afternoon with 4 games on the superbly prepared Abbey Park pitch in the first 2 rounds in the Division 4 Group A games. Boyle GAA were so proud to have Gaultier, Dublin’s Whitehall Colmcille GAA and local neighbours Western Gaels playing on our grounds.

After the Friday games, the teams and coaches and parents and supporters fed and watered by feast fit for king prepared by the brilliant Féile committee.  The Gaultier players and parents then met their host families and all headed of for well-deserved rest. 

As with Féile tradition Saturday morning saw Boyle play Gaultier in the final Group A game.  As results turned out in the Group A now all roads now led to Ballyhaunis for our U14 Cooney Motors sponsored Boys as went to compete in the Division 4 Shield Competition later that Saturday afternoon. Alas the Féile journey ended for our brave Féile team as they were beaten by eventual Shield winners Kildimo of Limerick. They lads can be proud of themselves as they performed brilliantly on and off the pitch and were true ambassadors of the club.   

Gaultier also failed to progress to next round of their cup competition, so both teams headed to Boda Borg in Lough Key as one to further cement friendships with our Waterford visitors and then once again all headed back to host families.

Sunday morning all met back down at Abbey Park to say a fond farewell to our visitors Gaultier GAA and the boarded their team bus and headed on the long journey back home to Waterford.

A huge thank you goes to all who made the hosting a brilliant success, the players, management and families, the travelling clubs from far and wide, the referees and match officials and members of our Club, and the massive effort to the Féile Committee who worked tirelessly to make the Boyle’s hosting of Féile a thing the whole Boyle community can be proud of.

Finally, Boyle GAA monthly club meeting will be held on Thursday next 4th July at 9pm in the clubhouse.  We have some important items for discussion and hope all can attend.
