It was a week of action action for Cooney Motors
motors sponsored Junior team this week. It started with a league match against
very strong St Kevin's in Castlerea which was full of underage county players,
on Tuesday evening. While Boyle played some good football it was a case of
missed opportunities in our forward play and in 10 minutes of play Castlrea
managed to score three goals. This loss left Boyle second from bottom on the
division 4 league.
As a direct result this meant that a loss against neighbours St. Michaels on
the Friday evening would mean religation back to division 5 next year. Boyle
played with a strong breeze in the first half but were behind by 5 points to 1
at half time. Boyle got out of the blocks quicker and got more accurate with a couple
of points straight after the break. With their tails in the air Boyle finally
got the break through of a goal by Jack Moran to put them ahead. Adam Simon
netted a second goal to give more breathing space. St Michaels got a goal of
their own in the closing minutes of the match but Boyle held on to victory
which now puts them in to a religation play off to be confirmed.
